Hi, I was actually undergoing project training, but my manager informed me that, as per the policy, employees who are on the bench or in training are not allowed to use WFH. However, due to some medical reasons, I need to continue working from home. My Delivery Manager advised me to contact the Infosys doctor and obtain approval from them. The issue was raised only after I had already reached home. Could you please guide me on how I can proceed with the WFH approval process in this situation? I would really appreciate your help.

Bro, my suggestion is don’t accept the retention hike if it doesn’t match the offer you received from the external company. Since the retention hike is being offered because of your external opportunity, make sure it’s actually worth staying for. And if you do decide to stay after accepting the hike, be prepared for additional expectations. They may focus more on you, ask you to take more ownership, and expect higher output because they’ve given you a significant hike. Also, in the next appraisal cycle, you may not get a good hike because you’ve already received a significant increase now, which could make you regret the decision later.

If you left a company recently—or even 3–5 years ago—don’t come back just because you remember the comfort or quality you experienced earlier. One reason is that after rejoining, you may not get a significant hike for the next couple of years. More importantly, as you grow into a senior or lead role, the responsibilities and expectations increase significantly.
