Among the means of tranquility and happiness for the Salaf was:
That they did not attach great importance to worldly life.
They derived this from the Qur’an:
{And the worldly life is not but the enjoyment of delusion.}

{وما الحياة الدنيا إلا متاع الغرور}

♦ So Be Steadfast
Ibn Taymiyah wrote:
The believer has been commanded to be patient and submit when afflicted and to seek forgiveness and repent when he sins. Allah said:
So be steadfast. Allah’s promise is surely true. And seek forgiveness for your sins. [40:55]So Allah commanded him to be patient in the face of afflictions and to seek forgiveness for his shortcomings. [al-Furqan pg 135]

Enough honor for you is that you are a slave of Allah and enough pride for you is that Allah is your Lord.

Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah) said:
Whoever keeps himself busy seeking Allah instead of himself, Allah will save him from himself,
and whoever keeps himself busy with Allah more than people, Allah will save him from people.

📖Recite by Night, Conquer by Day
After the Battle of Qadisiyyah (15 AH), Sa'd b. Abi Waqqas sent a letter to 'Umar b. al-Khaṭṭāb, relaying to him the good news of the victory.
In the letter, he mentioned:
'Sa'd b. Ubayd the Reciter
was martyred, and so-and-so, and so-and so was martyred, and men amongst the Muslims who are only known to Allah; He surely knows them...
When night would fall, they would recite the Qur'ān like the buzzing of the bees; and during the day, they were lions unlike any other.'

Repost from Sheikh Saleh al-‘Usaymi | English
⭐️ You might find one seeking knowledge in their old age and reaching a level in knowledge that a young, intelligent person does not attain, that is because the older one turned to Allah and persistently begged for knowledge, so Allah granted him what He did not grant the younger one.
⭐️ The greatest way of acquiring knowledge is asking Allah for it. How often this meaning is absent from the minds of many when attending a lesson or memorizing a text. Whoever is guided to this way, will have things facilitated for them in ways not available to others.

🌿 Friday Reminder
Ubayy ibn Kaʿb (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
"...I said to the Prophet ﷺ: 'Should I devote all of my supplication to sending prayers upon you?' He ﷺ replied: 'Then your worries will be taken care of, and your sins will be forgiven."
"Your worries will be taken care of, and your sins will be forgiven."
This reward encompasses every part of a person's life:
- Sins relate to the past.
- Worries concern the future.
Thus, by Allah's permission, you attain success in both this world and the Hereafter.
Today is Friday, the best day of the week. The Prophet ﷺ encouraged us to send abundant prayers and peace upon him on this blessed day, saying:
"Send abundant blessings upon me on Friday."
Do not let this day pass except that your tongue is moist with sending prayers and peace upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
