"The Necessity of Chivalry" is a good read specially for our times. highly recommended.
Modern morality, Lewis claims, has become utilitarian and equalizing in ways that flatten distinctions of honor, loyalty, and nobility of spirit.
Chivalry is not merely medieval costume but a moral grammar; a set of virtues (courage, courtesy, loyalty, honor, magnanimity) that shape personal conduct and social imagination.

You should watch Kenneth Clark’s widely praised Civilisation. It’s a 13-part BBC series (first screened in 1969) where Clark gives a personal view of Western art, history and ideas.
Lord Clark wanted to remind his audience what Western Civilization was really all about and why it should be preserved.
I wanted to create a separate channel for it, but someone has already took care of that.

If our world is a computer-generated Matrix, then everything is illusory, and we must battle the laws of creation to attain freedom. However, if a wise act of creation lies behind our world, we must understand those laws. by honoring them, we can reach the truth that transcends this world.
Ultimately, the degree of reality attributed to our world and lives matters less than what lies hidden behind that reality. From this perspective, freedom arises from honoring the laws of creation, not from constructing illusions (ideologies, escapism, etc) that stand in endless conflict with creation, nature, humanity and faith, as occurs within the Matrix.
