2019 with a 20.19KM Last year I wished for a year filled with more creation than consumption, for this year I wish for us to align more with our goals and aspirations for the entire year. I'm really happy to have been alive and get to experience the highs and lows of life, get a chance on this floating rock. I felt slightly better the past few days and couldn't resist going out to be thankful with a 20.19KM (~4hrs) walk, no audio/music input should go without saying. Maia is a private AI assistant I built directly into Telegram. You can tag her and ask something like "/m what does he mean here" and she'll actually read the context of that specific conversation and explain it back to you, but only when you ask, she's not sitting there reading everything by default. You can ask her to transcribe a voice message (yes amharic) and she will. She also connects to other apps you want like Notion, your workout app, sleep apps, calendar, whatever you throw at her. I've hooked her up to a few of mine, and I can just type something like /m how have my workouts been? and my sleep? what do you recommend I do and she'll pull together the data from both, put it side by side, and actually give me a useful answer. Nothing about that is technically new, we already have integrations that do this. The difference is it's happening from inside Telegram, in the middle of a normal chat, instead of me having to open a separate app to get it, and that feels natural. I built this as a concept, but after using her for a couple days it genuinely feels like the next step for AI in day to day chat apps, an assistant that's actually built into the conversations and tools we already use. I hope telegram adds something like this in the future, until then I'll be using Maia.
