T.N. CM Vijay says NEET must be scrapped, condemns Rahul Gandhi’s detention in New Delhi Vijay termed the detention of Opposition leaders in Delhi “anti-democratic” “If NEET has to be abolished, the only permanent solution is to move education back to the State List from the Concurrent List. If there are constitutional or legal hurdles in doing so, then, as an interim measure, a Special Concurrent List should be created and States should be vested with the necessary powers through it. This would enable State governments to exercise full control over education, including medical education,” he said.

During the July 20 ‘Sansad Chalo’ protest, videos showed Delhi Police and RAF personnel in civilian clothes or without visible nameplates, raising questions over police identification and accountability. While the BNSS does not specifically state whether police must display identification during crowd control, court observations and judicial rulings have emphasised the importance of identifiable police officers while exercising coercive powers. Police officers, however, say visible identification can expose personnel to security risks, litigation and harassment.

India has approved its first-ever dengue vaccine, marking a major milestone in the country's fight against the mosquito-borne disease. The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has granted market authorisation to Takeda Biopharmaceuticals India's QDENGA, making it the first dengue vaccine approved for use in the country. The vaccine is approved for individuals aged 4 to 60 years, protects against all four dengue virus serotypes, and can be administered without prior dengue infection or pre-vaccination testing. QDENGA is administered as a two-dose vaccine, with the doses given three months apart. Since its global launch in 2022, it has been approved in 43 countries, with over 32 million doses distributed worldwide. The approval comes as India continues to shoulder nearly one-third of the global dengue burden, with cases rising sharply over the past two decades. #Dengue #Health #India #Vaccine #QDENGA #DCGI #PublicHealth
