Denmark, the United States, and Greenland are planning to sign the agreement to strengthen security in the Arctic and the North Atlantic region, according to the office of Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. The document, they noted, is beneficial for NATO and Europe, and recognizes the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Denmark, as well as the right of the people of Greenland to self-determination. The signing is scheduled to take place during the session of the UN General Assembly next week. Following this, the agreement must be ratified by the parliaments of all three parties. U.S. President Donald Trump announced an agreement with Denmark, according to which the responsibility for ensuring the security of Greenland would be transferred to Washington.
