🇳🇵 A catastrophic flash flood and mudslide hit the Nepal-China (Tibet) border, killing at least 157 people in Nepal and 3 people in Tibet, with hundreds of people still missing. The disaster struck early on Wednesday morning, creating a severe cross-border crisis. An earthquake or a broken glacier triggered a massive avalanche of ice, rock, and mud. This huge landslide completely blocked the Bhote Koshi River along the border. The natural dam failed, sending a colossal, rising wall of mud and water tearing downstream into northern Nepal. 🇬🇧 🇮🇱 The UK Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, intends to announce the introduction of "strict" sanctions against Israeli settlements in the West Bank, despite warnings that this could lead to a "de facto boycott" of the entire state of Israel. This was reported by The Times. The Prime Minister intends to toughen the government's approach in response to Israel's plans to announce tenders for the construction of 1200 homes in the settlements. Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband stated that Israel's plans would effectively divide the West Bank in half and destroy any hope of a two-state solution. According to a senior government source, Burnham intends to take a much tougher stance than his predecessor, Starmer. It is expected that he will approve the introduction of a trade embargo against the settlements and personal sanctions against those involved. 🇮🇷 Iran has announced the discovery of a major gas deposit in the southern province of Fars, with estimated reserves exceeding 7.5 trillion cubic feet, according to the country’s oil minister. Around 5.7 trillion cubic feet is believed to be recoverable, equivalent to approximately 15 years of output from a single phase of the South Pars gas field. The discovery also includes substantial gas condensate reserves, with the minister valuing the combined resources at “tens of billions of dollars.”
