I've recently moved back to Phoenix for work and it's wonderful! Everything is super spread out but as a result there's no reason not to design communities and shopping centers as beautifully as possible. The Hispanic population is high but I don't have to deal with them because everything is super private, which is a privilege of these "unwalkable" cities. And guess what? The housing is still affordable for young families because they're actually building new subdivisions and new apartment complexes and the works and they have space to make them feel luxurious. And I've never experienced such a nice road system. The highways are enormous like nothing you've ever seen and they work.

there's a sickness in the "walkable cities" craze that I can't quite pin down. There's a genuine hatred of freedom of movement that cars offer. I won't pretend I don't understand the desire for public transit but it goes deeper than that for many a dumb gay liberal. They hate cars and I don't know why.

You’d be surprised how much you miss this, there’s a feeling life living people in America, while in Germany it’s genuinely just depression-maxed urbanites

Best places are where there’s the most nature and the least amount of bug-colony
