WELCOME DAYYY WAS A SUCCESS!!🤩✨ From the name toss to the photo booth 📸, delicious snacks all the way, of courseeeee😆,to the treasure Hunt, were truly moments worth remembering ✨. Watching everyone interact, work together, and run around trying to figure out the clues made it even more funnn 🙌 It was so nice seeing new faces getting comfortable, meeting new people, and just enjoying the day together! We’re pretty sure you guys enjoyed it as much as we did! The best part is the Interact club's journey is YET to begin. A great first day, a lot of new faces, and hopefully the beginning of many more good memories together🤍

Speech and Debate Club’s Achievements Throughout the 2025/2026 Academic Year  We are proud of the initiatives we undertook this year to expand students’ exposure to competitive debating and create more opportunities for public speaking and debate. As we announce the next executive members, we thank everyone who contributed to the club and trust the incoming board to build on this foundation. One of the club’s early contributions was moderating the Student Council Presidential Debate at the beginning of the academic year. The event was organized and moderated by the Board of Directors, ensuring that the discussion remained organized and engaging for the student audience. The club also introduced four new departments, through which bi-weekly course materials and educational resources were shared with students through the club’s Telegram channel. These materials were intended to provide students with consistent opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills. In the first semester, the club also organized a school-wide debate competition for students from Grades 9 to 11. The competition provided students with an opportunity to apply their debating skills in a structured setting, while encouraging wider participation in debate across the school. Another major achievement was the organization of an exclusive Online Debate Cohort Training in collaboration with the Debate Institute Africa. The training was particularly valuable for students who had little or no prior experience with the World Schools Debating Championships (WSDC) format. It introduced participants to the fundamentals of competitive debating while providing them with a dedicated space to practice. The training covered areas including competitive debating, research and case building, and rebuttal. In partnership with clubs such as the Medical Club, the Debate and Speech Club organized debates connected to relevant awareness campaigns, including a debate held during World Cancer Month. These collaborations allowed students to explore academic and social issues from multiple perspectives while strengthening inter-club engagement. In addition, the club collaborated with the Ethio Orators Contest, further connecting students with opportunities in public speaking and oratory. The club also hosted a webinar as part of its efforts to expose students to speakers and ideas beyond the immediate school environment. One of the year’s culminating achievements was the organization of a city-wide debate competition, which brought together nine schools from across Addis Ababa. The competition was conducted in a semi-World Schools Debating Championships (WSDC) format, providing participating debaters with practical experience in a structured competitive debating environment. This was particularly significant for debaters from our own school, who had received additional preparation and training from the club’s Debate Department prior to the competition. While there were limitations in making all of the newly established departments as active and sustainable as originally envisioned, these experiences provided the current leadership with valuable lessons about delegation and long term club development. We hope that the next team of the Upper Board of Directors will build upon these experiences, learn from the challenges we encountered, and continue working toward making the Debate and Speech Club a more active and flourishing club in our school.

STEM Club — Our Journey So Far As we look back at what we have accomplished this year, we are proud of how far STEM Club has come. Here's a look at what we achieved throughout the year. Building a Strong STEM Foundation We began the year by establishing structured learning across our four major departments: Computer Science, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Engineering, while also launching activities in Astronomy. During the first two months alone, we conducted more than 30 lectures, including practical and laboratory sessions, while collaborating with experienced organizations that supported our activities. We later expanded into Astronomy, introducing members to the fundamentals of astronomy, rocket simulation, flight modeling, and analysis using OpenRocket. By January, we had completed our initial lecture program, helping students strengthen their understanding of STEM beyond the regular school curriculum. Bringing New Fields to Our Members One of our goals has always been to expose students to areas of STEM that are not commonly covered in regular classes. We invited a guest speaker who introduced members to emerging technologies, including quantum computing. We also began preparations for a citizen research campaign in collaboration with ESSS, while continuing our Astronomy activities. Taking STEM Beyond Our Campus Our members also had opportunities to participate in a Physics Olympiad organized by Nazreth School, as well as science fairs and other activities. These experiences gave students a chance to challenge themselves and apply their knowledge beyond our school community. From Learning to Research and Innovation We didn't want STEM Club to be only about lectures. We launched an Observation Phase, where members identified problems they observed in their communities and proposed possible solutions using the knowledge they had gained. Around 15 project and research ideas were presented. Through our partnership with the Kotebe STEM Center, members working on projects were given opportunities for further support and development. Student advisors from our research committee were also assigned to oversee projects as members continued developing their ideas. Expanding Practical Learning As our projects developed, we began focusing more on practical and experimental work. We started laboratory sessions for students conducting research, continued developing ongoing projects, and organized an introductory electrical simulation workshop, allowing students to experiment with their ideas even when physical materials and prototypes were difficult to access. Our members eventually began actively working on their projects at the Kotebe STEM Center, while our research team produced four papers across different fields, strengthening their skills in research, data analysis, and scientific writing. Preparations have also been made to incorporate these papers and future research into a digital research journal on our school's website. This year was not without challenges. We faced difficulties with classroom availability, scheduling, funding, materials, and member participation. However, we adapted by adjusting our activities, moving some sessions online, and continuing our projects despite limited resources. From lectures and practical sessions to research, projects, partnerships, competitions, and science fairs, this has been our journey so far. Thank you to every member, teacher, partner, Board member, guest speaker, advisor, and supporter who contributed to the STEM Club this year. As we reflect on everything we have accomplished this year, we are also looking ahead to what comes next. STEM Club's journey does not end here, and we are excited to see the club continue to grow under its next leadership. We are pleased to announce the next members of the STEM Club Executive Team: President — Nolawi Hailu Vice President — Hlina Alemayehu Secretary — Solyana Fekadu We wish them the best as they take on the responsibility of leading STEM Club into its next chapter.
