Master, tell me the prayer I should use to draw to me most quickly the Divine Beloved,” a Hindu devotee said. Paramahansaji replied:
“Give God the gems of prayer lying deep in the mine of your own heart.”

“Learn to see God in all persons, of whatever race or creed. You will know what divine love is when you begin to feel your oneness with every human being, not before.”

To a discouraged disciple the Master said:
“Don’t be negative. Never say that you are not progressing. When you think: ‘I can’t find God,’ you yourself have given that verdict. Nobody else is keeping the Lord away from you.”

“Everything is God. This very room and the universe are floating like a motion picture on the screen of my consciousness.... I look at this room and I see nothing but pure Spirit, pure Light, pure Joy.... The picture of my body and your bodies and all things in this world are only rays of light streaming out of that one sacred Light. As I see that Light I behold nothing anywhere but pure Spirit.”

“Every minute is eternity because eternity can be experienced in that minute. Every day and minute and hour is a window through which you may see eternity. Life is brief, yet it is unending. The soul is everlasting, but out of the short season of this life you should reap the most you can of immortality.”

As I was talking to God in this way, suddenly that sweet, sweet feeling of total surrender came over me. No words can describe it; but you who have had that experience know of what I am speaking.
I said to myself, "Does it matter? Is not your goal to give your life absolutely and totally to God?"
My ideal is to be like the little kitten: The mother cat picks it up by the nape of the neck and puts it wherever she wishes. Whether she places it on the hard ground or on a satin pillow, the kitten doesn't mind; it is completely secure in the care of the mother.
That is the kind of devotee I have always wanted to be—fully surrendered to the Divine Mother, no matter what She does with me. What tremendous peace and happiness I find in that consciousness.

Excerpts from “Can we be relaxed and still be efficient”
YSS Magazine, L/91
Inner stability will come as you get in the habit of practicing the presence of God.
How wonderful it is to have that kind of relationship with Divine Mother in which you feel She is never absent, even during times of trouble and stress. When you have cultivated that closeness, you can talk to Her about anything, and feel Her sweet response and assurance.
It isn't that you approach Her with self-righteousness or an attitude of feeling mistreated, but like a child going to his mother, you can pull the hem of Her robe and say, "Look here, Divine Mother, what are You doing to me?"
For instance, just recently many, many problems of the society were burdening my mind. I began to express my displeasure to Divine Mother: "I haven't complained in all these years, but I feel it's time now to let You know that I am not so happy with all You are expecting of me. Don't You think it's too much?"
(To be continued….)

*Without the receptivity of faith, man shuts divine power out of his life*
Replying to their unvoiced challenge, Jesus signified: “My dear people, you expect me to furnish you with proof of my words by performing divine healings here just as I healed the sick at Capernaum. You wonder why, as a spiritual physician, I heal people in other towns, but not those of my own community. It is because you do not accept that God's power works through me.
*Acceptance signifies faith; and without the good soil of faith, no healing seed can be brought to fruition even by a man of God.*…
There can be no greater healer than omnipotent God. He is trying to heal His mortal children from all troubles; but since He gave independence to man, man is free to shut divine power out of his life or to allow it to shine through the window of faith.
"Divine healing is based on the law of reciprocity. Here in my own town you are used to thinking of me as an ordinary mortal man; and consequently you have no faith in the Divine in me. Without your faith, I cannot heal you.
*The irrevocable gift of free will permits man successfully to resist divine influences, including the intercession of saints.*”
~ Paramahansa Yogananda
“The Second Coming of Christ”
Vol 1. Discourse 39.
“A certain student, whom the Master had initiated in Kriya Yoga, said to another student:
“I don’t practice Kriya daily. I am trying to retain the memory of the joy that came to me the first time I used the technique.”
When Paramahansaji heard the story, he laughed and said:
“He is like a hungry man who refuses food, remarking: ‘No, thanks. I am trying to hold on to the feeling of satisfaction I got from a meal last week.’”

Don’t take a coffee break, take a Kriya break! Brother was at the dentist once and started to meditate, bringing a smile to his face. The dentist was wondering why he would smile and got interested in meditation.
Master advised us, "In my Yogoda school in Ranchi, India, I used to spend all my free time roaming around the grounds, here and there sitting awhile to meditate, until my mind was drunk with God. That is the only way to find Him. Don't waste your time."
Rajarsi used to meditate before and after everything he did, maybe for 5-7 minutes. That keeps the consciousness on a high level. It is actually easier to meditate all the time than to wait after a full day to finally sit down and try to meditate.
After Brother had surgery for his broken back, he was unable to sit for any length of time during his recovery. He figured out he could do as much as 6 Kriyas at one time, and do them 18 times with intervals to get to 108. He would walk around the Lake Shrine, find hidden nooks and places for the next set of 6 which all added up to so much joy that he said to Divine Mother, “may I have the next dance?” and Divine Mother answered, “my, what an audacious little devotee you are!”
Just 5 minutes - weaving the thought of God into your life throughout the day.

Convocation notes
“A man lamented that things were going badly for him. “It must be my karma,” he said. “I can’t seem to succeed in anything.”
“Then you should make a greater effort,” the Master replied. “Forget the past, and trust more in God. Our fate is not predestined by Him; nor is karma the sole “factor, though our lives are influenced by our past thoughts and past activities.
If you are not happy with the way life is turning out, change the pattern. I don’t like to hear men sigh and ascribe present failure to past-life errors; to do so is spiritual laziness. Get busy and weed the garden of your life.”

June 6: *Peace*
“To be controlled by moods is to be a part of matter. If you keep your mind on the resolve never to lose your peace, then you can attain godliness. Keep a secret chamber of silence within yourself, where you will not let moods, trials, battles, or inharmony enter. Keep out all hatred, revengefulness, and desires. In this chamber of peace God will visit you.”

“The peaceful individual remains calm until he wants to work, then he swings into action; and as soon as he is through, he swings back to the center of calmness. You must always be calm, like the pendulum that is still, but ready to swing into action whenever necessary.”

Brother Anandamoy often spoke of his early days with Master:... .
"I meditated alone in my room before breakfast and late at night. When I say “alone” I mean with Master. I quickly found out that I wasn’t very successful in my own limited attempts. But someone had given me a large picture of Guruji, an old colored poster from his campaign days. This was my “altar.” And in the beginning of my meditations I looked at that picture until I felt that he was with me. Only much later I read in his teachings, “Deeply meditating disciples should concentrate on their Guru, or meditate with him if possible. It is sufficient for a disciple to think strongly of his Guru before meditation. He will then find his meditation on God to be reinforced by His power flowing through the direct channel of the Guru.
During meditation the spiritual vibrations of a great master silently works on lesser yogis who may be meditating with him or who are in tune with him, regardless of distance.” My meditations, after looking at his picture and then practicing the Hong-Sau concentration and Aum meditation techniques that I had learned from the Lessons, consisted in thinking of my Guru and giving him all the devotion I had."
(The photo copy of Master included here, was always on Brother Anandamoy’s desk when he was in charge in Encinitas in the 1970's. The rose petals from his Kriya initiation were gathered and placed in the bottom right corner of his picture frame).
