New Social Movement(NSM)Theory & Social Work हाल ही में उभरा CJP [Cockroach Janta Party] आंदोलन भारत में युवाओं की बढ़ती असंतुष्टि, परीक्षा प्रणाली में पारदर्शिता, रोजगार और लोकतांत्रिक जवाबदेही जैसे मुद्दों को राष्ट्रीय विमर्श के केंद्र में लेकर आया। यदि इस आंदोलन को NSM Theory के दृष्टिकोण से देखा जाए, तो यह केवल आर्थिक हितों या वर्ग-संघर्ष तक सीमित नहीं दिखाई देता, बल्कि पहचान (identity), अधिकार (rights), गरिमा (dignity) और लोकतांत्रिक भागीदारी (democratic participation) जैसे उत्तर-औद्योगिक (post-industrial) मूल्यों पर आधारित प्रतीत होता है। Alain Touraine का मानना था कि आधुनिक सामाजिक आंदोलनों का उद्देश्य केवल राज्य सत्ता प्राप्त करना नहीं, बल्कि समाज की दिशा और सांस्कृतिक मूल्यों को प्रभावित करना है। CJP आंदोलन में युवा शिक्षा व्यवस्था और शासन की जवाबदेही पर प्रश्न उठाकर इसी सामाजिक परिवर्तन की मांग करते दिखाई देते हैं। Jürgen Habermas के अनुसार लोकतंत्र की वास्तविक शक्ति Public Sphere अर्थात सार्वजनिक संवाद में निहित होती है। CJP आंदोलन में सोशल मीडिया और जंतर-मंतर जैसे सार्वजनिक मंचों का उपयोग नागरिकों द्वारा अपनी आवाज़ लोकतांत्रिक ढंग से उठाने का उदाहरण प्रस्तुत करता है। वहीं Alberto Melucci के अनुसार नए सामाजिक आंदोलन नेटवर्क, साझा पहचान (collective identity) और प्रतीकात्मक प्रतिरोध (symbolic action) पर आधारित होते हैं। CJP आंदोलन में युवाओं की डिजिटल एकजुटता, विकेन्द्रीकृत नेतृत्व (decentralised leadership) और सोशल मीडिया आधारित लामबंदी इस विचार को प्रतिबिंबित करती है। सामाजिक कार्य (Social Work) के दृष्टिकोण से यह आंदोलन सामाजिक न्याय (Social Justice), जनसहभागिता (Participation), मानवाधिकार (Human Rights), सशक्तिकरण (Empowerment) और एडवोकेसी (Advocacy) जैसे मूल्यों को सशक्त रूप से अभिव्यक्त करता है। इसलिए, यद्यपि CJP को आधिकारिक रूप से "New Social Movement" नहीं कहा गया है, फिर भी इसकी प्रकृति और विशेषताओं के आधार पर इसे भारत में उभरते नए सामाजिक आंदोलनों के एक समकालीन उदाहरण के रूप में समझा जा सकता है।
