Sonic V2.2: Doubling the Contract Size Limit
V2.2 doubles Sonic's smart contract limits: deployed code from 24 KiB to 48 KiB, initialization code from 48 KiB to 96 KiB.
This is enabled by a new Simple Format Virtual Machine (SFVM), tested against 25M blocks of mainnet activity with no meaningful tradeoff. Developers get more room to build without splitting logic across contracts.
No changes for users or existing contracts.

V2.2: Sponsored Transactions
Sonic V2.2 expands transaction sponsorship. Beyond apps covering user gas fees, network-sponsored transactions can now remove the fee entirely for qualifying activity, no S required.
Successful-only sponsorship also means apps only pay when a transaction actually completes, not on failed attempts.

What's Coming in V2.2
There's more to what we're doing than meets the eye, and we want to make sure developers, users, and community members all understand that we're improving the technical and business aspects of Sonic hand-in-hand.
The evolution of Sonic is just getting started.

Why Sign Twice?
Built on Bundled Transactions, the delegate pattern lets users authorize an entire multi-step workflow with a single signature instead of one per step.
A temporary delegate account executes the sequence, all wrapped in one atomic bundle. Succeeds in full or rolls back entirely, funds never leave the user's wallet on failure.

V2.2: Bundled Transactions
Sonic V2.2 introduces Bundled Transactions: multiple transactions grouped into one atomic execution plan, enforced at the protocol level.
Approve and swap, bridge and deposit, repay and borrow all succeed or fail together, no more partial execution or stuck funds. Works with existing wallets, no migration needed.

Sonic Network Update
Sonic already proved it can settle fast. The next release focuses on what happens around the transaction, the parts users actually notice.
Batched Transactions: related actions processed together, with rollback if the sequence fails
Sponsored Transactions: apps can cover gas fees for smoother onboarding
Pre-Execution Checks: potential failures flagged before the user signs
Expanded Contract Capacity: more room for complex application logic

Approaching Day 50
Crypto's had a tough stretch, the market's down nearly half, but that capital didn't disappear, it just moved on to what's next.
We're leaning into this moment, doubling down on real revenue across payments/FX, AI (Spawn), perps/RWAs, and prediction markets, all built on Sonic.
Speed got us here, and what we build on top of it is what takes us further. Token mechanics follow revenue, exactly as they should. Good things ahead.

Minting Update
Our tokenomics provide for an annual mint of 47,625,000 S to fund Sonic's growth. The first allocation was minted on June 18, 2025.
This year, we did not mint it.
We are actively working toward no longer inflating the supply of S. The one question still open is validator rewards, since the network needs to fund its own security, and we are working on how to do that.
This decision comes in direct response to what our community and stakeholders have asked for.
We will share more details as the work continues.

Sonic Vertical Integration update
Early numbers are in and they're strong. VI revenue since March 1 has already hit ~400% the deflationary impact of all fee burns over the same period.
This is a narrow first implementation using only USSD and Metropolis vaults.
The broader model hasn't even started scaling yet.

Opera Sunset Update
Opera is being sunset on June 30, 2026 at 5:00 PM GMT.
If you're still using Fantom Opera mainnet or the Opera FTM → S bridge, make sure to migrate before the deadline or you'll lose the ability to convert FTM to S.
The ERC-20 FTM → S route and Sonic Gateway are not affected.

Vertical Integration: The Next Phase of Sonic
Sonic is entering a new phase focused on turning its technical edge into sustainable value for the S token. In a world where gas fees alone no longer create durable value, we’re shifting to vertical integration, building and owning core primitives so revenue flows directly back into the S token economy.
Infrastructure, liquidity, and applications will be aligned around reinforcing S, with future buybacks funded by real protocol revenue as integrated products scale.

Sonic Labs Post-Migration Infrastructure Update
Sonic Labs is implementing post-migration infrastructure improvements to strengthen security and streamline operations following the Ethereum and Fantom Opera migration.
You may notice large on-chain transactions related to multisig updates, treasury wallet rotation, exchange coordination, and burn activity. These actions are operational only and do not affect user funds, balances, circulating supply, or validator rewards.
No S tokens are being sold.

Sonic Delivers Performance Under Pressure
On October 10, 2025, the largest crypto liquidation event in history placed extreme demand on blockchain networks. While many experienced congestion and fee spikes, Sonic mainnet remained stable.
Sonic processed 3.1M+ transactions, peaked at 1,465 TPS, maintained stable minimum gas prices, and recorded zero failed or pending transactions.
Built for peak load, Sonic delivered consistent performance when it mattered most.
