How do i opt out properly
It’s been a good run, but xcode 27 won’t support x86, so it’s mostly useless for me now. I have my apfs partition on same nvme ssd as my windows system. Now i want to delete this partition and add it to windows without data loss on windows side. How can i do it properly?

progress bar at 0%
After troubleshooting I managed to get into the installer/recovery part. I started the installation, but it shows no progress and is stuck at "20 hours 22 minutes remaining." I am still waiting, but if nothing happens in the following 20 hours and 22 minutes, idk
Quick update: it now shows only a tiny sliver of blue. I hope that it succeeds

[GUIDE] How I made Realtek Bluetooth dongle work (TP-LINK UB500 Bluetooth 5.3 Dongle)
https://preview.redd.it/ihuvel6qxs6h1.png?width=1654&format=png&auto=webp&s=d79e2b38c2b1ae39fb17a3e625f86fdcab205de7
I've found this git project, [https://github.com/thegwchr/RealtekBluetoothFirmware](https://github.com/thegwchr/RealtekBluetoothFirmware), it requires BlueToolFixup.kext and itself kext in your kexts and that's it.
Just git clone the git directory, then guidance from the git
# Building
[](https://github.com/thegwchr/RealtekBluetoothFirmware#building)
make # -> build/RealtekBluetoothFirmware.kext
make test # host-side unit test of the firmware parser
make fw # regenerate include/FwBinary.cpp from fw/*.bin
make clean
The result is a standard kext bundle ready to be code-signed and injected.
# Installing with OpenCore
[](https://github.com/thegwchr/RealtekBluetoothFirmware#installing-with-opencore)
1. Copy `RealtekBluetoothFirmware.kext` and `BlueToolFixup.kext` into `EFI/OC/Kexts`.
2. Add both to `config.plist` under `Kernel > Add`.
The important moment after which my bluetooth module became alive is adding both of data strings in NVRAM > 7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82 > ADD
Add those both lines: | bluetoothExternalDongleFailed | Data | 00 |, |
bluetoothInternalControllerInfo | Data | 0000000000000000000000000000 |
https://preview.redd.it/hu6acuxqzs6h1.png?width=1012&format=png&auto=webp&s=828619b2c72cf91d5b3c1694c2f2a3b87699a9f4
So there's steps I've made into terminal:
git clone [https://github.com/thegwchr/RealtekBluetoothFirmware.git](https://github.com/thegwchr/RealtekBluetoothFirmware.git)
cd RealtekBluetoothFirmware-main
make
make test
make fw
then put BlueToolFixup.kext and RealtekBluetoothFirmware.kext from the 'RealtekBluetoothFirmware-main/build' into OCAT Kernel Add. BluetoolFixup must be higher than RealtekBluetoothFirmware.kext, then reboot, IMPORTANT!!! Reset NVRAM!!!
Aaaand that's it, now BT module perfectly works
Idk could it be the reason but my sleep doesn't work now but I don't use sleep so not a huge problem 4 me.
Free to answer any questions ;)

Struggling with iMessage/FaceTime activation on Comet Lake build
I finally got my Comet Lake build up and running on Sonoma, and for the most part, everything is working perfectly. GPU acceleration is smooth, sleep/wake works without any weird kernel panics, and I even managed to get the audio working on the first try using AppleALC. It felt like a massive W until I tried to actually use the Apple ecosystem features.
I've been trying to get iMessage and FaceTime to work for the last three days and I am hitting a wall. I've followed the standard procedure: I generated new serial numbers using GenSMBIOS, checked that my SMBIOS matches the hardware (using iMac20,1), and I've already tried several different combinations of ROM and Serial numbers. I even tried resetting my NVRAM multiple times after each change.
Every time I try to sign in with my Apple ID, it just hangs on 'Waiting for activation' or tells me that the connection to iCloud servers could not be established. I've checked my config.plist to make sure I don't have any weird entries blocking network services, and my internet connectivity is solid—I can browse and stream without any issues. I'm also using a native Ethernet controller, so I don't think it's a kext issue with the network stack.
Has anyone else dealt with this specific headache on Comet Lake? Is there something specific in the NVRAM or a certain kext I might be missing that handles the handshake for these services? I'm starting to wonder if it's a hardware ID issue or if Apple has tightened the screws on these non-genuine serials even more with the recent updates. I'd really love to just use my phone number and Apple ID like a normal person instead of just using this as a glorified Linux box with a pretty UI. Any advice or specific config tips would be massively appreciated.

Why do you do it?
What is your biggest reason for using a hackintosh? I understand for many, once you get it running you likely use it for a mixture of all these reasons, but I’m curious as to what’s the biggest factor, the can’t live without feature, the reason you choose to use MacOS on a PC/Hackintosh as oppose to another / more supported OS.

Is anyone actually seeing stability improvements with Sonoma on Comet Lake builds?
I've been running a Comet Lake build (i7-10700K, Z490, UHD 630) on Monterey for the last year and it has been rock solid. Not a single kernel panic or weird sleep/wake issue since I set up my OpenCore config. I'm looking at upgrading to Sonoma because I really want to test out the new desktop features and some of the newer Xcode updates, but I'm genuinely nervous about the potential regressions. I've been reading some threads lately where people are complaining about weird WiFi/Bluetooth drops and some issues with certain USB mapping setups after the update.
My current setup uses the Fenrir/AirportItlwm driver for my Intel AX201 card, and while it's been fine on Monterey, I'm worried Sonoma might break the compatibility or cause constant hangs. Has anyone here made the jump from Monterey to Sonoma on 10th gen Intel hardware recently? I'm specifically curious about how the power management is holding up and if there's any weirdness with iMessage or iCloud syncing that tends to pop up after the OS jump.
I'm also wondering if I should bother updating my kexts to the absolute latest versions before the jump, or if staying on the 'stable' versions that worked for Monterey is a safer bet for the initial install. I've spent way too many hours fine-tuning my ACPI patches and I really don't want to spend my whole weekend troubleshooting why my sleep timer isn't working or why my brightness controls are acting up again. If you've done this move, did you run into any major roadblocks with the installation process itself or did it go smoothly with just a standard bootloader update? Any specific quirks I should look out for in the config.plist before I commit to the wipe and reinstall? Thanks in advance.

Help with hackintosh
Guys, I'm trying to do this, but I found out that my 7700XT isn't compatible. I'd like to know if there's any way to bypass this. About This Mac / System Settings blank gray screen & crash after some uptime on macOS 26 (Tahoe)
Hi everyone,
I am experiencing an issue where my "About This Mac" and "System Settings > General > About" page turns blank gray or crashes after around 5 hours of uptime on my Alder Lake Hackintosh running macOS 26 (Tahoe).
If I open the crash log, it points to AboutExtension and System Information crashing at AboutExtension.appex. Here are the key details from the crash log:
* Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)
* Exception Subtype: FS pagein error: 94 Bad message (Exception Codes: 0x000000000000000a)
* Termination Reason: Killed program due to pagein failure
* Faulting Frame: AppleSystemInfocalling ASI_CopyCurrentRAMDescription
* APFS Kernel Log:
^(APFS - Encountered a compressed data hash mismatch)
^(VM - (arg = 0x0) Page has restart bit set, pagein fail, vnode_pagein returned error 94)
My Specs:
* CPU: Intel Core i5-12400 (Alder Lake)
* GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT
* SMBIOS: iMacPro1,1 (using -no_compat_check boot argument)
* EFI: OpenCore with RestrictEvents.kext (revpatch configuration)
What I've observed:
The issue only triggers when the background update checking daemon (softwareupdated) runs. I suspect it's a conflict between macOS Tahoe's internal VMM (Virtual Machine) check and the sbvmm spoofing configuration (revpatch=sbvmm,cpuname) on RestrictEvents. When sbvmm tricks macOS into thinking it's inside a VM, AppleSystemInfo fails to parse the RAM layout description and crashes on Tahoe.
Has anyone else encountered this AppleSystemInfo / ASI_CopyCurrentRAMDescription crash on macOS 26? Is there a way to safely keep OTA updates without triggering this VMM RAM description crash?
Thanks in advance!

failed ryzen 4500u efi (ideapad-flex-5 14areo5) to look at if ur stuck
https://github.com/operatorxpp/ryzen-4500u-efi-for-y-all-to-look-at
i was trying to do a hackintosh (my first) on my ryzen 4500u, i tried every fix and every kext but in the end i realized it was my nvme (sk hynix bc77) and gave up.
!!please dont attempt to use it, it'll probably encounter more issues, instead use it to avoid my mistakes and a sort of extra stuff to try incase the guide isnt helping u much with this processor and look into it as a last attempt.
(also i hope this doesnt break the dont distribute efi rules, its not meant to be used, only meant to be looked at and went "yeah i can try this kext and see")
moral of story, study ur parts, even least expected ones.

Need some Hackintosh help. Laptop: HP 15s-du1xxx CPU: Intel i5-10210U (Comet Lake) GPU: Intel UHD Graphics RAM: 8GB SSD: 256GB NVMe Wi-Fi: Realtek RTL8723DE

Using OpenCore + macOS Ventura Recovery (macrecovery method). Secure Boot is disabled, NVRAM reset, EFI regenerated with OpCore-Simplify and SMBIOS is MacBookPro16,3.

OpenCore boots and detects the Recovery DMG, but Ventura never reaches Recovery UI. It hangs during verbose boot, usually at:

\- "HID: Legacy shim 2"
or later
\- "Couldn't alloc class AppleKeyStoreTest"
\- "AMCK_"

HP BIOS is locked to Intel RST (no AHCI option available).

Has anyone successfully installed Ventura on an HP 15s-du / i5-10210U with RST enabled? If so, could you share your EFI or tell me what fixed the HID Legacy Shim 2 / AMCK_ hang?

Thanks!

No Audio on macOS Tahoe 26.3.2 (Legion 5, OpenCore) – AppleALC loaded, no audio devices detected
Hi everyone,
I'm running macOS Tahoe 26.3.2 on a Lenovo Legion 5 (Comet Lake, OpenCore 1.0.7).
I've been troubleshooting audio for a while and gathered some additional information:
# Current Status
* AppleALC.kext is loaded successfully
* Lilu.kext is loaded
* OpenCore boots normally
* No audio devices appear in macOS
# Outputs
AppleALC loaded:
kmutil showloaded | grep -i applealc
Output:
as.vit9696.AppleALC (1.9.8)
AppleHDA:
kmutil showloaded | grep -i hda
Output:
(no output)
Audio devices:
system_profiler SPAudioDataType
Output:
Audio:
Devices:
No devices are listed.
Layout IDs:
ioreg -l | grep -i layout-id
Output:
"alc-layout-id" = <03000000>
"layout-id" = <07000000>
# Hardware
Hackintool reports:
* Intel Comet Lake PCH cAVS
* Vendor ID: 8086
* Device ID: 06C8
# What I've Tried
* AppleALC
* Different EFI configurations
* VoodooHDA.kext
* Rebuilt OpenCore configuration
* Verified AppleALC is loading correctly
I recently found the "AppleHDA-back-on-macOS-26-Tahoe" project and noticed that AppleHDA does not appear to be loaded on my system.
Could the lack of AppleHDA in Tahoe be the reason no audio devices are detected at all, or should I still focus on finding the correct codec/layout-id first?
Any advice from Tahoe users with working internal audio would be appreciated.
