The NUM Student Research Club continued its Student Research Seminar, with Master’s & Doctoral students in Week 5 and Bachelor’s students in Week 6.
Master’s & Doctoral Session featured presentations on economic development and Cambodia’s economic challenges:
Mr. VA MOUNISEYHAK — Chapter 5: Poverty, Inequality, and Development, from Economic Development.
Ms. LY SOKUNTHY — Thesis progress on Assessing Special Economic Zones in Cambodia: Industrial Diversification, Upgrading, Local Economic Spillovers and Policy Pathways for LDC Graduation.
Mr. CHOEUN NARETH — Thesis progress on Economics of Domestic Agro-Processing and Value-added Chains of Cashews and Coffee in Cambodia.
The presentations were followed by academic discussion and constructive feedback from expert professors and fellow club members.
Bachelor’s Session featured training on “The Literature Hunt & Source Evaluation,” led by Mr. Vuth David, followed by a group activity to help students practice finding and evaluating academic sources.

The Erasmus+ CHAIn project has developed policy guidelines to support Cambodian higher education institutions in strengthening educational quality, international cooperation, and graduate employability.
Prepared under Work Package 5—Strategic Development, led by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS), the guidelines focus on four strategic areas:
- Curriculum modernisation
- International partnerships and student and staff mobility
- Lecturer capacity development
- Internal quality assurance
With a phased implementation roadmap and mechanisms for monitoring and continuous improvement, the guidelines help institutions translate internationalisation priorities into practical, sustainable actions.
🌏 Available in English and Khmer, this resource supports policymakers, university leaders, academic staff, and partners in advancing a more inclusive and internationally connected higher education system.

The analysis of employed population aged 15+ in selected industries in each province in 2019 informed development potentials of each industry across spaces. While the data illustrate this perspective at provincial level, actual development is largely happening in urban areas where urbanization has been increasing rapidly. Good urbanization is essential to further promote productivity and export potentials of these provinces. We were honored to welcome H.E. Dr. SAR Senera, Deputy Secretary General of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, as our distinguished guest speaker. His insights on Cambodia’s investment landscape and industrial development enriched the discussion and offered valuable perspectives on the country’s future direction.
The seminar also brought together researchers, speakers, and participants to discuss the role of foreign direct investment and special economic zones in Cambodia’s industrial transformation.
