Greetings from Handong Global University, South Korea! We are delighted to inform you about the upcoming ‘Data Science Camp (Advanced Level)’ and ‘Data Science Summer Pre-Camp’. The Data Science Summer Pre-Camp will be held on August 1, and the Data Science Advanced Level Camp will be held on August 3 at the Fairfield by Marriott Phnom Penh Hotel. The camp is part of the UNESCO UNITWIN-Cambodia Data Science Joint Certification Program, launched in August 2023. We would like to ask you to promote and encourage students at your university to participate in our camp. We are confident that the knowledge and skills students gain from this camp will be an invaluable investment, equipping them for success in both their careers and daily lives. UNCTAD (2024): Creative Economy Outlook- The creative economy encompasses creating, producing, and distributing goods and services that use creativity and intellectual capital as primary inputs. It includes diverse activities such as advertising, architecture, arts, design, music and movie production, publishing, and video games. The creative economy is rapidly growing, especially in developing countries, and contributes significantly to economic development and job creation. UNCTAD(2024):Digital Economy Report-The report highlights the urgent need for sustainable strategies throughout the life cycle of digitalization. From raw material extraction and usage of digital technologies to waste generation, the report explores the nature and scale of the sector’s environmental footprint, which remains largely unassessed. What is apparent is that developing countries are suffering disproportionately from digitalization’s negative environmental effects, as well as missing out on economic developmental opportunities due to digital divides. UNCTAD calls for global policies involving all stakeholders to enable a more circular digital economy and reduced environmental footprints from digitalization, while ensuring inclusive development outcomes.
