Two Types of Innovation Sheikh ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Sa’di writes in his tafsir: ‎البدعة نوعان: نوع يتعبد لله بعبادة, لم يشرعها أصلا، ونوع يتعبد له بعبادة قد شرعها على صفة مخصوصة, فتفعل على غير تلك الصفة There are two types of innovation: 1. A type wherein one worships Allah with an act of worship whose very basis is not divinely legislated. 2. The other type is to worship Him with an act of worship which has been divinely legislated in a certain condition, but then to practice it upon something other than that condition. Following One’s Desires Allah mentions in surah al-Baqarah: وَلَئِنْ أَتَيْتَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ بِكُلِّ آيَةٍ مَّا تَبِعُوا قِبْلَتَكَ ۚ وَمَا أَنتَ بِتَابِعٍ قِبْلَتَهُمْ ۚ وَمَا بَعْضُهُم بِتَابِعٍ قِبْلَةَ بَعْضٍ ۚ وَلَئِنِ اتَّبَعْتَ أَهْوَاءَهُم مِّن بَعْدِ مَا جَاءَكَ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ ۙ إِنَّكَ إِذًا لَّمِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ And if you brought to those who were given the Scripture every sign, they would not follow your qiblah. Nor will you be a follower of their qiblah.Nor would they be followers of one another’s qiblah. So if you were to follow their desires after what has come to you of knowledge, indeed, you would then be among the wrongdoers. [2:145] Commenting on this, sheikh ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Sa’di mentions the following point of benefit: ـ{ وَلَئِنِ اتَّبَعْتَ أَهْوَاءَهُمْ } إنما قال: ” أهواءهم ” ولم يقل ” دينهم ” لأن ما هم عليه مجرد أهوية نفس, حتى هم في قلوبهم يعلمون أنه ليس بدين، ومن ترك الدين, اتبع الهوى ولا محالة، قال تعالى: { أَفَرَأَيْتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ إِلَهَهُ هَوَاهُ }ـ وَلَئِنِ اتَّبَعْتَ أَهْوَاءَهُمْ And if you were to follow their desires … and He only said “their desires” and He did not say, “their deen” because they are merely acting upon their base desires, such that they know in their hearts that this is not according to a religion, and that it is in fact abandoning religion and following desires by definition. And Allah said, أَفَرَأَيْتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ إِلَهَهُ هَوَاهُ Haven’t you seen the one who takes his desires as his god? [45:23] [Taysir al-Kareem al-Rahman pg. 106]

Allah split the sea Prophet Musa and cooled the fire for Prophet Ibrahim so believe that Allah can take care of your troubled heart.

Friday Sunnah Reminders 🤍📿 We all know how special Jumaah (Friday) is in our Deen but we need reminders from time to time to recall the magnanimity of this golden day. Friday is no average day for Muslims. It has the honor of being called ‘best day of the week’ by the best person to ever exist- Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. 1. Send extra selawat to Rasulullah Rasulullah ﷺ said : “The person closest to me on the Day of Resurrection is the one who sent the most Selawat upon me.” 🖤 [ Sunan Al-Tirmidhi 484 ] 2. Read Surah Al-Kahfi We can read: A. The first 10 Ayahs of Surah Al-Kahf B. The last 10 Ayahs of Surah Al-Kahf C. Both A and B D. Ideally, the complete Surah Al-Kahf. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever reads Surah Al-Kahf on Friday, he will be illuminated with light between the two Fridays.” [ Narrated by al-Haakim; Grade Sahih by al-Albaani ] 3. Mandi Jumaat [ Jumaah Shower ] Abu Sa’id Al-Khudr reports: I testify that Allah’s Messenger said, ‘The taking of a bath on Friday is compulsory for every Muslim who has attained the age of puberty and also cleaning of teeth with Siwak and using perfume, if available’. [ Sahih Bukhari ] 4. Use Fragance & New Piece of Clothings. “Put on your adornment on every occasion of prayer” [ Surat al-A’raf 7: 31 ] 5. Berdoa to Allah [ Send supplications to Allah ] 6. Trimming your nails Abu Hurayrah R.A. reported that ‘Five are the demonstrations of fitrah (nature/ instinct): 1. circumcision, 2. evacuating the hair underneath the navel, 3. trimming the mustache, 4. trimming the nails, and 5. culling the hair under the arms.’ 7. Make lots of Dua between Asr & Maghrib “There is a special hour on Friday, during which all prayers are accepted and answered by Allah, all Glory and Praise be to Him. This is part of the blessings that Allah has blessed this day with, over all the other days of the week. “On this day there is a time when no Muslim stands and prays, asking Allah for something, but Allah will grant him it” – and he gestured with his hands to indicate how short that time is. [ Bukhari and Muslim ] Ibn Al-Qayyim said that this golden hour is to be found in the time after the Asr prayer until the Maghrib Azan (end of day): “Friday has twelve hours (or part of it). There is one hour during which if a Muslim asks Allah anything, Allah will give it to him, so find it during the last hour after Asr.” [ Abu Dawud & An-Nasai ] Let’s do the virtues of Friday together! insha allah, if you can’t do everything, it’s okayy, don’t leave everything out okayy 🤍 may Allah ease your affairs. 🕊 MD. @selfreflectionforummah

Alhamdulillah, but let’s continue to keep them in our prayers. Too many lives have been lost for us to truly celebrate. While a ceasefire is a step forward, the real joy will come only when Palestine is truly free 🇵🇸. As of January 16, 2025, Palestine is not fully sovereign or independent. The Palestinian territories, comprising the West Bank and Gaza Strip, remain under varying degrees of Israeli occupation and control. The West Bank is subject to Israeli military presence and settlements, while Gaza has been under an Israeli blockade since 2007. Let’s hope and pray that this truce becomes a meaningful step toward lasting peace and justice, insyaAllah.

A Worldly Matter Vs A Matter Of The Hereafter Abu Bakr Bin Al-Arabi said that Tartooshi said to him: «إِذَا عَرَضَ لَكَ أمرُ دُنْيَا وَأَمرُ آخِرَة، فَبَادِرْ بِأَمرِ الآخِرَة، يَحْصُلْ لَكَ أَمرُ الدُّنْيَا وَالأُخْرَى.» ❝If a worldly matter and a matter of the Hereafter is presented to you, then hasten with the matter of the Hereafter. Like this you will acquire both the worldly matter and of the Hereafter.❞ [Seera Alaam An-Nubala, (19/491)]
