In Week 29 and 30 of 2026, Nigeria recorded decreased Lassa Fever activity. In week 29, a total of 173 new suspected cases were reported, along with 20 new confirmed cases and 2 new confirmed death. In Week 30, 227 new suspected cases, 17 confirmed cases and 6 confirmed deaths were recorded, with cases reported across 23 states and 116 Local Government Areas (LGAs). While the number of confirmed cases declined, the continued detection of cases and deaths reinforces the need for constant vigilance, early detection and prompt response. Everyone has a role to play in preventing Lassa fever.
