+5I focussed on two topics with the students at Sila Circles.
The first topic was Islamic spirituality. Over the course of four days, we learned that the reality of human beings is not their body, but their soul, and that the essence of Islam is about learning how to love Allah Most High by purifying our souls.
We did deep-dives into the meanings of loving Allah, remembering Him, being grateful to Him, being his slaves, and repenting to Him.
These lessons weren't just theory. We learned how to move our hearts to actually do all of these things, and how to practice them in our lives. We learned some practical exercises on how to be grateful, how to love Allah Most High, and how to repent to Him.
May Allah Most High reward Sakinah Center and the MSA at the University of Western Australia for hosting these events and making them possible.

| 2 |  +1For the past three years, my friend and student Osama Hassan has been teaching Why Islam is True, Why Muhammad is God's Messenger, and several other Basira courses on the ground to young Muslim university students and young Muslim professionals in Perth. As the demand grew, he trained others to teach the courses, too, and he and his team have taught and transformed the lives of hundreds of students. They were the ones who brought me to Australia, and that's why my first stop was Perth, even though (fun fact!) it's the most isolated city in the world. I enjoyed spending a week with them, may Allah Most High preserve all of them and fulfill all of their hopes and aspirations in this life and the next. | 173 |
| 3 |  I'm now going to rewind back to Perth.
On my second morning in Perth, I gave an important lesson on how to respond to the Islamophobic accusation that Muslims are lying about their religion when they say that it's peaceful.
This was very much on people's minds. The night before, when I explained why the ghazawat of the Prophet prove that he is a prophet of mercy, not a prophet of war, one of the young men asked me how to respond if an Islamophobe responded to my talk by saying that I'm just telling a lie because that's what Muslims are supposed to do in order to deceive the non-Muslims around them.

We talked about arguments for the existence of God and arguments for the genuine measengerhood of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

| 18 | Nationalism: Abdülhamid II regarded nationalist movements—especially in the Balkans and later Arab nationalism—as a major threat to the unity of the Ottoman Empire. This concern was one of the reasons he emphasized Pan-Islamism as a unifying ideology.
Colonialism: His Pan-Islamic policy was explicitly intended to resist the growing influence of European colonial powers, particularly Britain, France, and Russia, over Muslim lands.

| 19 | Sami began by remembering the Genocide at Srebrenica, which happened exactly 21 years ago yesterday, may Allah Most High have mercy on all of the Muslims who were murdered on that day.
He then explained how the fact that Sultan Abdulhamid II had preserved the plans of the mosques of Bosnia enabled the reconstruction of mosques that the genociders had destroyed and whose sites they had sworn that Muslims would never return again.
Sami conducts inspiring tours to Bosnia and tells the stories of the Bosnian Muslims to keep the memories of the umma alive in our hearts and minds, and everyone who can should join him on his trips @halaltravelguide .
Hamza described the special connection of the Ottoman caliphate to the veneration of the Prophet ﷺ, how the Hijaz railway that Sultan Abdulhamid II built ended at the City of the Prophet ﷺ, how it was the last of the Arab cities to fall from the hands of the Ottomans in 1919, and how that veneration of the Prophet ﷺ should move us to serve the umma of the Prophet ﷺ.
Everyone who attended the event received a poster of the Qasida of the Prophetic Chamber, which represented the Ottoman legacy of Sultan Abdulhamid II, and which was erased from the Prophetic Chamber six years after the city of the Prophet ﷺ fell out of Ottoman hands.
