Many TOEFL students miss easy points on email questions because they use the same reading strategy they use for academic passages.
Rushing through emails by skimming? That strategy works for academic texts but backfires on TOEFL email tasks. Here's how to read emails the right way and answer all three questions in just three minutes.
📧 Read Like It's Real: Emails aren't structured like academic paragraphs. Key details appear anywhere, so read naturally from start to finish instead of hunting for topic sentences.
🎯 Purpose Comes First: The subject line and opening sentence always tell you why the email was sent, like "Water Service Interruption" or "Invitation to Join",
⏱️ Answer as You Read: Glance at Question 1 after reading the title and first paragraph, then answer it before continuing. This strategy keeps you moving efficiently through all three questions.
🧩 Think Like a Secretary: Ask yourself "Why did I receive this?" and "What do I need to do?"
These questions help you focus on essential information instead of memorizing every detail.

I’m a trained pharmacist currently living in the United States, and I took the TOEFL iBT on June 6. Today, I received my scores and am excited to say that I finally achieved the result I had been working toward.
My Toefl journey was quite hard for me. I had taken the test before and didn't get the score I needed which was frustrating and discouraging at times. Like others, I spent a lot of time and money looking for reliable resources and trying different study methods but I often felt lost about what would actually help me improve.
A friend recommended @Meti_2323 Metages' course, and I'm genuinely glad they did. The course was helpful, but what stood out even more was the teacher himself.
