SECTOR INDEX PERFORMANCE
SECTOR INDEX PERFORMANCE

Sectoral Investing: High Potential.-.but...High Patience Just look at sector performance over different time periods. A sector that is among the best performers this quarter may have been one of the worst performers over the last year. Check sectors like Realty and Media who have delivered strong returns over the last 3 months, whilestruggled over the past year. This is the nature of sectoral investing. You can create good wealth with right time and if you enter in wrong time, wealth can go down too. Sectoral investing has 3 key advantages ✅ You get Opportunity to benefit from long-term growth trends. ✅ You Can generate strong returns when the sector performs well. ✅ It also adds some diversification beyond traditional equity funds. But they come with challenges too... ⚠️ Sectors go through long periods of underperformance. See IT today. ⚠️ Returns can be highly volatile. ⚠️ Identifying the right entry and exit time is difficult. My simple rule: Think of thematic funds as dessert in your portfolio, not the main course of your daily Lunch. You wont lose much if you wont have that. Build your core portfolio around diversified funds like Flexicap, Multicap or Large & Mid Cap funds. Use Sectoral funds only as a small satellite allocation if they align with your long-term conviction and risk appetite. Data source: Kotak Mutual Fund Latest factsheet.

TOP 10: MOST UNDEROWNED
TOP 10: MOST UNDEROWNED

Everyone is chasing what is already popular. Interestingly, India's largest companies are currently witnessing one of the lowest levels of FII ownership in nearly two decades. The average FII ownership across the top 10 companies has fallen to just ~34% of free-float market capitalization. This is the lowest level in two decades, and even below the trough (37%) reached during the Global Financial Crisis. History shows that quality businesses often become attractive when they are under-owned rather than over-owned. If global uncertainties ease and FII flows return, this segment could benefit over the long term. Sometimes, the biggest opportunities lie where the crowd is looking the least.
