Obviously I don’t support the Jews in any capacity, but the process of parading through Australian cities in support of a foreign regime has never sat well with me. My initial thought is: “Go over there and fight, then. What are you doing here?” But these people aren’t soldiers, they’re agitators. So let’s look at this activity from the standpoint of an agitator: These marches effectively disrupt city-happenings, are un-ignorable and paint the streets in colours representing a certain feeling. That feeling is a righteous anger at injustices towards a specific nation (read: race). The pro-Palestinian sentiment is necessarily aggressive at least in its outward expressions and notably more so than the Australian National Identity. But there’s two benefits this activity has for Australians: Firstly, the pro-Palestine movement has and may continue to ‘mainstream’ anti-Semitism. And secondly, they’re demonstrating exactly what Australians need to be doing. The injustices against us are plenty, we just need the right messaging and enough of it to inform & ‘agitate’ the people, until our sentiments become the colours of the city streets. There’s no reason why Australians can’t be compelled to march like this every week.
