This week felt less like Wall Street and more like the whole world catching up on mobile money, meme-stock-level IPOs, and ad platforms quietly swapping places at the top. Here's what actually moved the needle.
1. Meta Set to Overtake Google in Global Ad Revenue — For the First Time Ever
Emarketer projects Meta will pull in $243 billion in global ad revenue in 2026, edging past Google's $239.5 billion. Together with Amazon, the three giants will account for 62.3% of all worldwide digital ad spend this year — a genuinely new power balance for anyone running campaigns.
2. Airtel Money Heads for an $8–9 Billion London IPO — Africa's Biggest Fintech Listing Yet
Airtel Africa's mobile money arm — used by 53 million people across the continent for payments, bill pay, and cash withdrawals — is set to debut on the London Stock Exchange October 14, in what's being called the biggest London listing in five years. It would also be the first major African fintech to list on a global exchange.
3. Ghana's Mobile Money Hit $44 Billion in a Single Month
GH¢518.8 billion moved through phone wallets in August — up 46.5% year-over-year, across 1 billion+ transactions and 85.8 million registered accounts. Banks and MTN are now racing to turn that everyday wallet activity (think market stalls and hair salons) into actual lending customers.
4. Nigerian Fintech Grey Expands Cross-Border Payouts to Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, Cameroon, and Rwanda
The expansion lets users send money directly to bank accounts and mobile wallets across four new markets, right as Nigeria's central bank rolls out stricter data-localization and ownership-disclosure rules. A reminder that payout infrastructure and regulation are evolving on the same timeline, not separately.
5. Trustly Cuts Around 200 Jobs as Fintech Belt-Tightening Continues
The Stockholm-based Pay by Bank provider is downsizing its global workforce amid ongoing losses — fintech joining tech's broader 2026 trend of leaner teams, even at well-funded, well-known companies.

Every transfer inside Capitalist is free — and that changes how payout chains actually work
A network pays a webmaster, who pays a sub-affiliate, who pays a contractor. Normally, each hop costs something — a wire runs 2.5%, cards carry their own fee 1121. Multiply that across a chain, and those "small" fees add up fast.
Inside Capitalist, transfers between accounts are instant and free, with no percentage and no delay. If everyone in that chain holds a Capitalist account, the money just moves — and none of those hops cost anything.
That's margin finance teams stop losing on transfers that were never the point of the payout in the first place.
Isn't that reason enough to explore Capitalist?

The rise and fall of Wirecard
At some point, Wirecard, a European fintech company, was worth more than Deutsche Bank. Then auditors went looking for €1.9 billion — and it just wasn't there.
Everyone saw the slick app, the global payment rails, the DAX 30 badge. Nobody outside the company could see what was actually backing it.
Here's the full timeline, and the one question it leaves every payments business asking.
…which Capitalist answers with transparency. 12+ years of real balances, real audit trails, real infrastructure behind every payout.

Stablecoins as a mass payouts instrument
Mass payouts are quietly moving off bank rails and onto stablecoins — and the numbers show it's not a trend — it's a whole infrastructure. Here's why affiliate and partner payouts are leading that shift.

Big week in fintech. A £10B neobank megadeal, a $350M exchange hack, and tokenized stocks inching closer to Wall Street — here's what mattered September 21–27.
1. Nubank eyes £10 billion buyout of Monzo
Brazilian neobank giant Nubank is reportedly in talks to acquire UK favorite Monzo for roughly £10 billion, according to Sky News. If it closes, the deal would merge two of the world's most prominent digital banks and mark one of the biggest consolidation moves in global fintech history.
2. Binance buys $100 million stake in Circle
The world's largest crypto exchange is deepening ties with the issuer of USDC, expanding an existing partnership as stablecoins become central to both companies' strategies.
3. Bitget hacked for roughly $350 million
The crypto exchange confirmed a major breach, reviving concerns about security across the industry even as stablecoin adoption accelerates elsewhere.
4. NYSE and Blockchain.com explore selling tokenized stocks
The exchange operator is in talks with Blockchain.com about issuing tokenized versions of listed equities, another sign traditional markets are moving toward round-the-clock, blockchain-based trading.
5. DriveWealth security incident exposes Revolut, Stake and Hatch customer data
A breach at brokerage infrastructure provider DriveWealth compromised customer data belonging to multiple fintech clients, including Revolut, highlighting how vulnerable shared backend providers can leave an entire ecosystem of consumer apps.

A decade ago, stablecoins were a shaky experiment nobody trusted with real money. Today they're a $300B+ market moving billions across borders every day.
That's exactly the problem Capitalist was built to solve: moving money fast, without the banking system in the way.

From a two-bedroom apartment to the world's biggest hedge fund
In 1975, Ray Dalio started Bridgewater Associates out of his NYC apartment — today it's managed as much as $160 billion and became the largest hedge fund on the planet.

The same discipline that built an empire starts with getting the fundamentals right — including how your business handles money. That's where Capitalist comes in.

Offboarding matters more than you think
When someone with access to company finances leaves the team, their access needs to disappear the same day — not "eventually." We've seen what happens when it doesn't.
A former employee once still had login credentials to a company's Capitalist account — no verification method, but enough to give it a try. He asked our support team to reset the account's 2FA, hoping to set it up his own way and move funds out. Our team caught the mismatch, verified with the real owner, and shut it down before any damage was done. That case ended well. Not every company gets that same safety net. Financial access is easy to overlook in an offboarding checklist, buried under laptop returns and exit interviews. But if a role touches company funds or payment platforms, offboarding isn't complete until that access is fully revoked — same day, no exceptions. Capitalist — protecting your funds since 2014.

💸 This week: a big court ruling against Google's ad tech, a legal precedent against Meta in Europe, and stablecoins keep growing fast.
⏩1. Google must open up its ad tech, but avoids a breakup
A federal judge ordered Google to stop giving its own ad exchange special bidding advantages and let competitors in — but didn't force it to sell off any part of its ads business.
⏩2. Meta ruled liable for fake ads in Germany
A German court said Meta must remove fraudulent ads faster and share what it earned from them — a new legal precedent for how platforms handle scam ads in Europe.
⏩3. Taboola buys finance-focused adtech firm Dianomi for $25.4M
The deal gives Taboola access to premium finance publishers like The Wall Street Journal and Reuters, as it pushes further into advertising outside Google and Meta.
⏩4. Stablecoin supply hits $303B
A new report shows stablecoin supply reached $303 billion in August, with Tether and Circle controlling most of the market — payment volume for 2026 so far is already in the hundreds of billions.
⏩5. JPMorgan and Tether disagree on stablecoin demand
JPMorgan said big institutions aren't rushing into stablecoins yet. Tether's CEO pushed back publicly — a small sign of the bigger tension between banks and stablecoin issuers.
