#NorthernSyria | rural #Aleppo: Kurdish pastor arrested upon arrival in #Afrin The HTS-led General Security militias arrested Pastor Nihad Hassan, pastor of the Kurdish Evangelical Church in Beirut, upon his arrival in Afrin for a family visit, over posts attributed to him on social media. He was referred to the Cybercrimes Division on July 19, 2026. The pastor is currently held in Afrin’s Central Civil Prison, according to the Kurdish Church in Lebanon – Dera Kurdi Lebanon. It is worth noting that Pastor Nihad Hassan hails from the Syrian region of Afrin, from the village of Kurdan in the Jindires district.

Very interesting to know that one of the qualifications of the Chargé d'Affaires of Syrian Embassy in the USA is kidnapping American journalists, and one of his victims is @LindseySnell that recognized him from his eyes and voice. American citizens should be careful as they passed by the Syrian embassy in the US, not to be kidnapped from former Al-Qaeda terrorists. Also more interestingly, a number of Syrians tried to find out about his educational qualifications. He claimed to have graduated with an engineering degree from a Turkish university in Cyprus, but they searched the graduates' records and contacted the university, only to conclude that he had enrolled but never graduated. Therefore, the representative of the al-Julani regime to the United States does not possess a university education, just like his leader.

Druze from Suwayda share the story of “an Alawite girl who survived the coastal massacres… only for death to follow her to Suwayda” The martyr Jodi Ammar Zgheib, 15, an Alawite girl from the Qusour neighborhood in the city of Baniyas, had been displaced with her family to Suwayda after her grandfather and grandmother were killed in the March 2025 massacres committed by Damascus authority forces and militias loyal to it, believing her journey would mark the start of safety. But on July 16, 2025, while being displaced along with a group of Druze women and children, the group was ambushed in the center of Suwayda city by government forces she had fled from, and Jodi was killed just a few months after surviving the coastal massacres. Jodi did not escape the sectarian hatred she had fled. It followed her even to the place she had sought safety in, making her story a testament to the tragedy of a child who survived one massacre… only to be killed in another.

#Syria | Syriac Catholic Archbishop of Homs warns of the critical situation Christianity faces in Syria. In his recent visit to Vienna, Syriac Catholic Archbishop Jacques Mourad of Homs has advised against the return of Syrian refugees to Syria as the country still struggling with violence and uncertainty. He described how the optimism of the early days that followed fall of the Assad regime quickly evaporated when Islamists attacked Alawites in Homs, he said: "Only two months later, armed clashes erupted, and Islamist militias began attacking Alawite civilians. At that moment, I realized we still did not have freedom. My struggle for freedom began again" He then goes on to describe how this violence is targeting primarily Alawites and Druze on sectarian basis but Christians too are targeted by the these Islamist militias for the same motives, "These extremists hate the Alawites and Druze even more than the Christians." Archbishop Mourad on the existential threat facing the Christian community: "Before the civil war, Syria was home to approximately two million Christians. Today, only 300,000 to 350,000 remain. If this continues Christianity will disappear from this region" He also commented on the newly assembled "parliament", pointing out that the overwhelming majority of its members are Salafist Islamists who come from Idlib, which is known for being the stronghold of Islamist extremism. It's worth noting that Archbishop Mourad was held captive by ISIS for months before being freed from the terrorist organisation.

#SouthernSyria | #Damascus: Druze Young Man Assaulted After Provocations, Media Directorate’s Statement Sparks Controversy Raed Sadeq, a Druze man loyal to the #STG, was beaten and had his car smashed in the city of #Jaramana on the evening of Sunday, July 27, 2026, upon his arrival in Jaramana from the Netherlands. This came after he appeared in circulated video clips making insulting and provocative remarks toward the Druze, referring to the #Suwayda region’s “Mount Bashan” the term used by the Druze Supreme Religious Council, with a distorted, vulgar mispronunciation as “Mount Bakhshan=anus”. In another clip, he said he would come to them in a “station wagon because you love the fallen regime,” alluding to the security vehicles used under the former regime. In a final clip, he said, “I’m in Jaramana, where are you?” Following this, a group of young men assaulted him physically and damaged his car. While we stand against assaulting anyone over their expressed opinions, and firmly reject violence, what stands out is that the Rural Damascus Media Directorate issued a statement referring to him as a “journalist”, despite the fact that he lives in the Netherlands and does not work for any media outlet, nor even as an independent media figure, describing the incident as “a blatant assault and a flagrant violation of all norms and laws guaranteeing freedom of media work and the protection of journalists in the course of their professional duties.” Ironically, no such statement has ever been issued by any media directorate affiliated with the STG when its own media figures engaged in public sectarian incitement, such as media personality Khaled al-Talawi, or in cases of attacks on former opposition journalists.

#CentralSyria | #Homs: Terrorist gunmen open fire on an Alawite family in the Wadi al-Dahab neighborhood Gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire with silenced pistols on a mother, her son, and her husband on Tawil Street in the Alawite-majority neighborhood of AWadi al-Dahab, just after midnight on Monday, July 27, 2026, around 1:00 AM. The attack resulted in the death of the mother, Yumna al-Halaq, 41, and serious injuries to her son, Zein Ibrahim, 13, who was taken to al-Zaim Hospital. This attack comes a week after a similar attack targeted another Alawite family, and local residents believe the gunmen who carry out these sectarian killings are affiliated with the #HTS-led General Security militias.

Two young women go missing in Damascus and Homs, fears of abduction #Damascus: Samia Munzir al-Nasser, 24, went missing in the Kashkoul area on the evening of July 19, 2026, after which all contact with her was completely lost. According to the information received, Samia is married and has a child. She hails from the village of Basir in Daraa, is Christian, and resides in Rabla in the western Homs countryside. She had traveled to Damascus to visit her family before contact with her was lost, with no information about her whereabouts to date. #Homs: Etedal Fouad Dargham, 23, from the Alawite community, went missing yesterday morning, July 25, 2026, after leaving the Abbasiyah neighborhood heading toward the Muhajireen neighborhood in Homs. No information has been available about her whereabouts or fate since then.

#WesternSyria: Young Man Killed, Brother Wounded in Shooting by General Security Militias in Falsaqu, Rural #Jableh Local sources report that Bilal Daoud was killed and his brother wounded when gunfire targeted them near their home in Falsaqu village, Jableh countryside. The two brothers had defected from the former regime’s army years earlier. They had recently gone into hiding after a false report was filed against them, and had just returned home when the HTS-led General Security militias were tipped off. A security force arrived at the village and executed Daoud in front of his house, wounding his brother, no clashes took place. This account contradicts the official version, which claimed the killing occurred during clashes and the pursuit of a terrorist cell to justify the execution of the young man in the street. Local sources reject that narrative entirely and confirmed no clashes occured at all, only a field execution. Around the same time, official media reported clashes in Baabda village, (15 km south of Falsaqu) again denied by our sources, who say there were no clashes, killing or arrests, only a security deployment during which militia members fired shots into the air and staged photos for media purposes.

#SouthernSyria: Body of Medical Official Mamoun Kahel Arrives in #Suwayda The body of medical official Mamoun Talal Kaheel, 44, arrived yesterday at the National Hospital in Suwayda, after he was assassinated on July 12, 2026, while on an official mission to Damascus to collect salaries for staff of the Suwayda Health Directorate. He was killed on the Damascus–Suwayda road. The “Ministry of Interior” of the #STG had issued a fabricated statement (not the first time) claiming that the victim was killed when an explosive device detonated in his car as he allegedly attempted to plant it on the Damascus–Suwayda road. After official statements confirmed that the victim had been on a mission to collect salaries and worked for the Suwayda Health Directorate, the ministry quickly deleted its statement without offering any explanation. It is worth noting that the Ministry of Interior led by the Al-Qaeda terrorist Anas Al-Khatab (a.k.a. Abu Ahmad Hudud) has repeatedly issued fabricated statements fabricating charges against people unrelated to the accusations made against them, as for example what happened with psychiatrist Ghassan Youssef Ali, who was accused of trafficking organs from detainees, despite being a psychiatrist with no surgical training.

#WesternSyria | #Jableh: The ministry of agriculture announces it has appointed a new director of General Authority for Fish Resources, the incumbent director refuses and counters with a counter statement. Following the controversy stirred by the circular issued of the incumbent director of General Authority for Fish Resources enforcing strict rules on female dress code, the ministry of agriculture decided to appoint a new director. This however, was met with a stern refusal by the incumbent director who released a statement refusing to obey. He claims he was appointed by the interim president and the president is the only one who holds the authority to remove him. This sheds a light on the attitude and mentality of those in administrative positions treating these offices as personal fiefdoms and their complete refusal to adhere to normal authority and hierarchy, only the "Shiekh Julani" holds the higher power in their eyes.

A former ISIS Sharia judge recently appeared on Syria’s official news channel (Al-Ikhbaria) affiliated with STG, where he was presented as a social activist discussing water shortages in #Hasakah province. This appearance has provoked alot of Syrians who immediately recognized him. Biography Fadel al-Salim (ISIS alias: Abu al-Mughira al-Hashimi), a former lawyer. Opposition member of the Syrian National Council for the Revolution in 2012 and the first to deliver sectarian statements at the Tunis Conference. Member of the terrorist organization Al-Nusra Front (Jabhat Al-Nusra) from 2012 to 2013. Sharia official for the terrorist organization ISIS in al-Shaddadi (later arrested by the SDF). Social activist appearing on official Syrian television after al-Qaeda-linked forces assumed power in Syria.
