A field source reported that #HTS-led General Security militias, along with affiliated factions from the #STG stationed in Tal Hadid (5~ km w #Suwayda), targeted the #Druze-led National Guard position west of Suwayda city using 120mm mortar shells and heavy machine guns. Explosions were still being heard in the city and its outskirts at the time of reporting.
The source said the truce was broken by General Security sniper fire at around 7:00 PM, followed by the sustained use of heavy weapons that continued through the time of writing.
The source also confirmed that a child was wounded by shrapnel in the thigh after STG forces struck residential neighborhoods on the western front of Suwayda city with mortar shells and indiscriminate heavy machine-gun fire. | 2 176 |

A group of gunmen targeted the home of “Musa Salman Hamdan,” 80 years old, with an RPG shell on August 28, 2026. The damage was limited to material losses, with no human casualties reported.
It is worth noting that Musa Salman Hamdan, one of the notables of #Marjana village, located on the border between the Damascus countryside and Daraa countryside, was previously kidnapped in December 2025/January 2025 by an armed group, with the village paying a $6,000 ransom to secure his release.
This latest attack comes as part of an apparent effort to displace the residents of this Alawite village, following the earlier displacement of residents from the nearby, predominantly Alawite village of #Alqeen in the #Daraa countryside. | 2 130 |

Alawite civilians in Al-Sanobar town in Latakia province reported a number of armed robberies by STG soldiers across the town, witnesses reported that MoD soldiers in a SUV with Idlib numberplate went through the town raided stores, kiosks and other businesses in their rampage.
In addition to that they also attempted to kidnap a number of men from the town by cutting off their vehicles on the road, but they managed to fight off the soldiers and escape, though reports indicate they sustained injuries during the struggle and their vehicles were stolen by the terrorists.
These incidents forced the townsfolk into closing their stores and hiding indoors for the rest of the day. The town was one of the towns that faced the worst violence during the 2025 March massacres where hundreds of men, women and children were rounded up by STG forces, executed and then buried in mass grave. | 411 |

Mohannad George Abu Nassar, 44, has been released following his kidnapping on July 27, 2026, in the Umm al-Zaytoun area of northern Suwayda. The armed group behind the abduction had demanded a $20,000 ransom from his family. However, after his release, reports emerged suggesting the ransom demanded had been $200,000.
Abu Nassar said he was tortured during his captivity, including being beaten with sticks and having both hot and cold substances thrown on him. He was kept bound hand and foot throughout his detention and was denied food for several days.
Mustafa Abdul Baqi, a representative of the #HTS-led General Security militias, said that upon learning of the kidnapping, he reached out to "contacts" in Suwayda to locate Abu Nassar. Once his location was confirmed, Abdul Baqi said he was able to get in touch with another group that, by his account, persuaded the kidnappers (members of the National Guard’s Druze factions) to hand him over at the #Matouna checkpoint.
Notably, the area where the kidnapping reportedly took place lies along the boundary between zones controlled by the National Guard and General Security, in northern Sweida. In his account, Abu Nassar did not identify the kidnappers or specify their affiliation. | 400 |

The body of the young man “Faisal Ghaleb Zurayfa” was found this morning, August 28, 2026, in Damascus.
The young man had reportedly been kidnapped from in front of the gate of a company in the industrial city of Adra, where he worked as a night guard, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
He was originally from the village of al-Harif in the #Masyaf countryside, lived in the Warood neighborhood of Damascus, and belonged to the Alawite sect. | 365 |

The Egyptian terrorist “al-Dhahabi,” known in Syria for promoting Salafist doctrine among the Syrian population, announced via a Facebook post that he held a meeting two days ago with the deputy minister of endowments (Awqaf), the director of endowments in #Aleppo, and the “Shariaa official”at the ministry of defense in the STG.
He also announced the significant support the ministry of endowments is providing for “dawah” (proselytizing) work, and said they are all “in the same trench”!!

Samer Othman (Abu Ali) was killed last Wednesday, August 19, 2026, after gunmen opened fire on him while he was working selling coffee on the Hamah Bridge in Damascus.
Samer Othman was originally from the countryside of #Jableh and lived in the Jabal al-Ward neighborhood of the capital, Damascus.
Ahmad Ali Hassan, 61, was killed on Friday, August 21, 2026, after gunmen opened fire on him while he was at his shop at the Gas Intersection in the Hamah–Jabal al-Ward area.

| 13 |  Young Alawite Woman Who Was Kidnapped and Released Shares Testimony About General Security Militia Involvement in Her Abduction
A 25-year-old woman named “Hala Nawras Ibrahim,” from the Alawite community, gave testimony about the circumstances of her kidnapping and detention, along with her nine-month-old baby, at the hands of the #HTS-led General Security militias.
Ms. Hala Nawras Ibrahim was reportedly kidnapped on May 17, 2025, together with her son Ali Youssef Khuzami, from underneath the Hamimim Bridge near Jableh.
Hala Ibrahim: “General Security kidnapped me and my child from under the Hamimim Bridge in Jableh. They assaulted me several times before cutting my body with razor blades.”
Hala: “When they sent me back to my family, they had shaved my head and cut my body with razor blades all over, trying to force me to sign a marriage contract with a General Security member.”
Hala: “I heard other girls screaming in the place where they were holding me.”
Hala: “They told my family to delete all the posts about the kidnapping once I was sent back after my family paid a ransom.”

It's worth nothing that multiple testimonies from other released kidnapping victims reportedly point to two men, Haitham Abbas “a.k.a. Salah”, who commands General Security militias in Jableh, and someone known as Hakim al-Diri, who commands General Security militias in Latakia province, as being involved in kidnapping women across Latakia province, covering for the kidnappers, and threatening victims’ families. | 4 969 |

The platform “Syria 08.12” promoted, through several posters on Instagram, the Islamic Caliphate state, saying that “the world’s suffering and misery caused by the capitalist state, especially America, will not end except by establishing the Islamic Caliphate state.”
Notably, the platform operates in Syria openly and without restriction. Footage shows individuals working with them from within Syria, and it has also aired a video podcast featuring participants based in Syria, which it called “Sharia podcast.”

Loay Mohammad Zroof died inside the prisons of the #STG after being detained since May 2026, over his affiliation with the #NDF militias (National Defense Forces) in Damascus during the Assad era. Local sources reported signs of torture on Zroof’s body when it was handed over to his family. He was buried today, August 22, 2026, in the town of Ras al-Ain in the Jableh countryside.

The HTS-led GS militias arrested several men, among them identified as “Nemer al-Taher” and “Mohammed al-Sakeef” from Deir al-Salib, and “Ahmad Nizar Wasouf” and his son “Nizar Ahmad Wasouf” from the town of al-Mahrousa.
