*️⃣Conjunto Satélite Architect #Senosiain #JavierSenosiain City #MexicoCity Country #Mexico #NA 🔤Senosiain’s design philosophy, influenced by architects such as Gaudí, Hundertwasser, and Frank Lloyd Wright, seeks to promote harmony between human habitat and the natural world. This inspiration is evident in the Satellite House Complex, designed to seamlessly blend into the surrounding landscape, using natural materials such as clay, wood, and stone. Curved forms and vibrant colors create an organic and dynamic living space that enhances the occupants’ well-being and connection with nature. "Before we’re born, we’re floating in our mother’s belly, like astronauts in space, but then we’re pushed into a box ... we make life ... very square, killing off liberty, spontaneity, and creativity. My designs want to go against this rule of life." – Javier Senosiain #quote@simoderna 🔤 Colour #mixed #orange #yellow Material #polymer Function #residential #hospitality #hotel Feature #retro #greenery Address: Cto. *️⃣Tunnel of light Architect #MAD City #Koide close to #Nagano Country #Japan #AP 🔤MAD Architects, led by Ma Yansong, has completed the restoration of the Kiyotsu Gorge Tunnel in Japan’s Niigata prefecture. The revitalization project sees the installation of several permanent artistic spaces along the historic lookout tunnel, with the intention of bringing back the cultural energy that once empowered the region. Drawing on the ‘five elements’ of nature (wood, earth, metal, fire, water), MAD’s scheme transforms points along the historic tunnel through the realization of several architectural spaces and artistic atmospheres. The designs rethink the relationship between humans and nature, and seek to re-connect locals and visitors alike with the majestic beauty of the land. 🔤 Colour #reflective Material #rawconcrete Function #public #museum Feature #interior #renovation #water Address: Koide, Tokamachi, Niigata 949-8433, Japan Google street Google steet 2 Entrance google street ©️ pics by #Nacasa text by architects

*️⃣Picturesque bridge Architect #Shumakov #NikolayShumakov #Metrogiprotrans City #Moscow Country #Russia #EU part 🔤The structural solution was driven by the need to preserve ship navigation along the river while avoiding direct intrusion into the natural landscape of the adjacent park. Rather than crossing the river perpendicularly, the bridge follows an unusual angular trajectory: the roadway enters the river obliquely and then makes a sharp turn over the water. This allows it to follow the alignment of the surrounding road network without landing directly on the opposite bank, turning a complex site constraint into the bridge’s defining spatial gesture. Rising 105 metres above the water, the bold arch of the pylon is woven from a lattice of #steel members. Painted #red, it accentuates the lightness of the open framework. The roadway deck is suspended from the arch by 72 stay cables, making the structural system itself the bridge’s dominant architectural expression. 🔤 Function #transportation #bridge Address: Prospekt Marshala Zhukova, 76к2, Moscow, 123103 ©️ pics by Dianov Anton, Instagram and Pinterest text by architects put ✅ reaction on your favorite projects

*️⃣Uniqlo Ginza Flagship Store Architect #HerzogdeMeuron #HdM #Herzog #Meuron City #Tokyo Country #Japan #AP 🔤In 2019 Uniqlo approached Herzog & de Meuron to reinvigorate an existing department store building in Ginza as a new global flagship store. #renovation@simoderna A study of the original structural drawings and an early site visit revealed the practical beauty of the building’s original #rawconcrete frame. Aiming to expose this ‘found’ construction both externally and internally, all extraneous elements such as cladding, suspended ceilings and additions were removed in an exercise of design through subtraction. The raw concrete grid forms a muted framework for Uniqlo’s colorful products. Different materials—stone, concrete, timber, metal, colored panels, mirrors, glass, and cement—are used as infills according to each space and function, while humanizing the frame’s strong orthogonal presence. Where the building meets the street, the exposed concrete frame becomes a type of “arcade” that welcomes shoppers off the street. The structure is left open at the two corner entrances, anticipating the tall plaza inside, with full-height glazed facades. 🔤 Function #retail #shop Feature #interior Address: Japan, 〒104-0061 Tokyo, Chuo City, Ginza, 6 Chome−9−5 ギンザコマツ東館 1階~12階 ©️ pics by #Nacasa text by architects 🗓Order an exclusive itinerary for your trip

*️⃣Yangshuo Sugarhouse Hotel Architect #Vector City #Yangshuo Country #China #AP 🔤"Surrounded by picturesque natural landscape, the site locates in one of the most typical karst regions. An old sugar mill built in 1960s is beautifully preserved, with an industrial truss used for sugar cane transport. We envision industrial heritage as the representation of spirit of older generation. This became the premise of this project." #heritage@simoderna The site is surrounded by karst peaks, facing Li River to the south and a busy driveway to the north. Horizontality of architecture and verticality of karst mountain shows interaction between the man-made and the natural. Besides, the public walkway is artificialized and geometric version of pathway and cave carved into the karst mountain since ancient times. #context@simoderna Flanked with newly-added suite building and villa, the old sugar mill and industrial truss occupy the central part of the hotel complex. Wandering around the resort hotel, guests experience the alternation of light and dark, change of framed landscape view, distance and elevation. 🔤 Material #rawconcrete Function #hospitality #hotel Feature #water #refurbishment Address: No, 102 东岭路 Yangshuo County, Guangxi, China, 541905 ©️ pics and text by architects 🌐Planning a trip? Figures such as Gehry, Heatherwick, Calatrava, and Herzog & de Meuron reflect a mix of experimental forms and institutional commissions, while Foster, Nouvel, and Koolhaas represent established modern masters. The presence of BIG, Snohetta, Toyo Ito and Kengo Kuma signals the growing influence of Asian and Nordic practices, and the inclusion of historic names like Le Corbusier or Niemeyer underlines the occasional reference to foundational modernist legacies. Overall, the distribution balances celebrated global icons with regional innovators and classics, mirroring the way contemporary discourse blends past and present architectural narratives. 🔤 You can find extended version of this rating anytime via the pinned channel map, or by searching #analytics via the channel search function

*️⃣MIT Ray and Maria Stata Center Architect #Gehry #FrankGehry City #Boston Country #USA #NA 🔤The Ray and Maria Stata Center is an academic complex designed by Frank Gehry for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Gehry described the cultural questions that his Stata design addressed, as well as his own design process. "Cars, TV and computers all tend to alienate people, and there is a yearning in any building for a sense of community. So we needed to create a space where collisions between people occurred by accident," he said, noting with special pride the Student Street, the village center on the fourth floor and the sun-washed steps of the Dertouzos amphitheater. "This building itself is an experiment," said Jim Glymph of Gehry Partners. "The people brought together to build and design it are all pioneers." 🔤 Colour #metallic Material #brick #steel Function #education Feature #district Address: 32 Vassar St, Cambridge, MA 02139, United States ©️ pics by #RolandHalbe and Philip Greenspun (3) text by news.mit.edu and architectuul.com 🖥New analytical and insightful handbook

*️⃣Yabuli Entrepreneurs’ Congress Centre Architect #MAD architects City #Harbin Country #China #AP 🔤Cited along the axis of a mountain, MAD’s design of the “Yabuli Entrepreneurs’ Conference Centre” is a tent-like structure that is defined by soft, sloping lines. Casually mirroring its mountainous backdrop, it reaches a maximum height of 24 meters, allowing it to settle quietly into the landscape. While humble in its presence, it does not lose the dynamic atmosphere of northern China – integrated with the sky, the ground, the snow, the forest, and the mountains. #context The focal point is a skylight positioned at the centre of the roof that allows natural light to flood into the interior. *️⃣Cloud Engine Energy Center Architect #Xing #XingDesign City #Jingdezhen Country #China #AP 🔤The site was formerly occupied by porcelain factory. The existing buildings were facing insufficient electrical capacity and inadequate water pressure at higher floors. Further expansion of the district required infrastructure to be put in place first. Energy centers are typically enclosed utility buildings containing technical equipment. Instead of enclosing everything in a conventional box, we divided the building mass into two parts, preserving more of the park's open space. The technical equipment is buried underground and integrated into the landscape as a grass-covered slope, as if a corner of the lawn had been torn upward. Meanwhile, the cooling towers and control center are suspended above the ground. Its architectural lines are deliberately hard and precise, with actual equipment and utility pipes exposed on the façade, giving the building the appearance of a giant machine. 🔤 Colour #grey Material #steel Function #mixeduse #industrial #public #park Feature #cantilever Address: 29.299495, 117.228935 ©️ pics by #Schran text by archcollege.com #️⃣Use hashtag filters to make a personal travel itinerary for your trip

*️⃣Iberê Camargo Foundation Architect #Siza #AlvaroSiza City #PortoAlegre Country #Brazil #SA 🔤"It could have been a rectangular prism. It could have been almost the same: three elevated plans, each formed by three rectangular exhibitions rooms, placed at two consecutive faces. ... But the building is not just a rule. It is mainly the materialization of a set of variations." #quote@simoderna The ramps of the prime rule, with an extension would needed either a slope of 11 percent or an increase of 13 meters in its extension with a slope of 9 percent in order to achieve the desired difference between floors. So the obvious choice, which implies a first set of spatial-formal variations on the building, is for the increase in the extent of the ramp: the set of variations that will determine the visual identity of the museum. #cantilever@simoderna From a two-segment ramp surrounding a closed atrium, two three-segment ramps surrounding two atriums, a closed one and an opened one. That is the variation. From a prism, a rock. Thus is the materialization of the building. 🔤 Material #rawconcrete Function #public #museum Address: Av. *️⃣MUDEC Museum Architect #DavidChipperfield #Chipperfield #DCA City #Milan Country #Italy #EU 🔤The project does not have a street front, but it is surrounded on all four sides by existing historical buildings with uniformly articulated elevations, inspired by a typical Milanese typology where regular façades conceal the intricate arrangement of internal courtyards behind. As a cluster of several square blocks differing in height and size, the new building reflects the internalised quality of the wider site. They are clad in grey titanium zinc – in keeping with the industrial nature of the area – which, together with the fritted mirrored glass used for the windows on the outward-facing façades, and the continuous metallic grids that cover the roofs, gives the volumes a strong monolithic appearance. A distinguishing feature of the museum is its central hall, forming a court within a court. Its amoebic curved form sharply contrasts with the rigid geometry of the surrounding monolithic forms, as well as with the regular shape of the city block and its austere façades. This luminous glass space at the heart of the building extends above the surrounding rooflines, forming a lantern that acts as a beacon across the site. The spaces benefit from generous daylight filtered through rooflight systems. The columns supporting the lantern structure form a curving peristyle court reminiscent of a medieval cloister with four entries at its cardinal points. The galleries adhere to a principle propagated by Adolf Loos whereby the height is proportional to the floor area: the larger the floor area, the higher the ceiling 🔤 Colour #white Material #mattglass Function #public #museum Feature #interior Address: Via Tortona, 56, 20144 Milano MI, Italy Google street🔥 #BestGS@simoderna Google Earth ©️ pics by #OscarDaRiz text by architects channel navigation

*️⃣Miyashita Park Architect #NikkenSekkei City #Tokyo Country #Japan #AP 🔤MIYASHITA PARK is a reconstruction of Shibuya Ward Miyashita Park (opened in 1964), which comprised a park on top of a public parking lot alongside a busy rail line. Defining a New Iconic Space for Shibuya with a “Canopy” - In order to achieve both “Shibuya-like” park activities in a rare public space located in the central city commercial area and the shade of greenery without fear of falling trees on the adjacent railroad tracks, park greening in the form of an arched decoration reminiscent of an arbor canopy was planned. 🔤 Material #steel Function #mixeduse #public #park #retail #mall Feature #refurbishment #adminvisited (activities 5/5) Address: 6 Chome-20-10 Jingumae, Shibuya, Tokyo 150-0001, Japan Google street Interior google street Side google street Night google street Google earth ©️ pics by #Nacasa text by Archdaily 🌐Planning a trip? *️⃣Portugal Pavilion 98' Expo Architect #Siza #AlvaroSiza City #Lisbon Country #Portugal #EU 🔤The Pritzker Prize-winning architect's brief was to create spaces for receiving head of states and a big outdoor area for large gatherings, however the building's future use was unknown. Siza chose to split the building into two parts: one portion was designed to be adapted for various uses, while the other would be an outdoor yard. The architect covered the patio with a 70-metre-long concrete canopy that bends down in the middle, and frames views to the Tagus River. He worked with engineer Cecil Balmond to develop the unusual, scooped structure, which comprises white-painted concrete supported on steel cables. The 20-centimetre-thick canopy curves up at each end to rest on two large porches with the slabs stopping short at the end to reveal the cables inside. 🔤 Colour #white Material #concrete Function #public #community Feature #retro Address: Pavilhão de Portugal Cais Português Startup, 1990-221 Lisboa, Portugal ©️ pics by #Malagamba text by Dezeen ❗️Only completed and still standing buildings are published in @simoderna
