Just take a second and think: who are the people selling you this trash? They're not the top students or financially savvy folks—they're the underachievers who got recruited into this like puppies. You think these people even know what they're selling? They themselves are trapped in the mess. Now they pull anyone else they can find inside with them.
ILPs come loaded with: commissions, fund management fees, bid-offer spreads, policy/admin fees, insurance charges.
They dangle "high returns" and "better than FD" rates but never tell you the risks. "Oh the fund manager will move your money around into something." What is "something"? Who, what, where, when, and how? They just want to milk your savings to the last drop.
OH, ETF IS FOR MID-TERM TO LONG-TERM. ILP IS FOR LONG-TERM.
WHY WOULD I BUY AN ILP IF MY ETF CAN DO BOTH? WHY WHY WHY.
"OH BECAUSE PEOPLE SELL THEIR ETF TO GO FOR HOLIDAY... PEOPLE CANNOT STOMACH THE DROP."
Those people are your clueless friend circle full of folks who don't get that if I'm investing long-term, I won't sell it to go buy random stuff. A normal functioning person does not touch their long-term investments.
Would you rather have control over your own money, or let these clueless agents have control over it?
