🎙 Excerpts from Russia's President Vladimir Putin answers to media questions
🎞️Any military facilities in Ukraine are legitimate targets for us, whether British or otherwise.
🎞️We believe that negotiations [on Ukraine] should above all have concrete substance. If anyone is willing or able to make a concrete contribution to this process, we welcome it.
🎞️We want to end the war and achieve lasting, comprehensive peace – both in Ukraine and across Europe. And we are ready to engage in negotiations with anyone who is willing to do so.

| 2 | 🔔 🍂 1 September marks Knowledge Day in Russia and the beginning of a new school year.
The custom dates back decades and is associated with a number of familiar rituals, including the first bell and presenting teachers with flowers. In 1984, it was officially established as a holiday.
These long-standing traditions are upheld in Russian schools both at home and abroad. At the Russian Embassy School in London, the new academic year commenced with a special ceremony. As is customary, the event opened with the raising of the State Flag and the performance of the national anthem.
Chargé d'Affaires Vasily Tsyganov addressed the students, their families and teachers, congratulating everyone on the occasion. He wished the children every success in their studies and encouraged them to seek out new knowledge. | 293 |
| 4 | 📰 Excerpt from Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's article "International Cooperation in the Arctic: Challenges and Opportunities"
💬 Preserving the Arctic as an area of peace and cooperation meets the interests of the entire international community.
Meanwhile, there are those who do not share this point of view. How else can one explain the fact that NATO countries, as well as the Alliance as a whole, are driving the region towards militarisation and creating hotbeds of international tension there? [...]
This deliberate and systematic effort to foster an atmosphere of mistrust in the military sphere is taking place alongside Western attempts to undermine Russia's legitimate rights in international cooperation through illegitimate sanctions targeting legal entities and individuals from countries of the Global South who are involved in joint projects in the Arctic region.
NATO and other Western countries are openly declaring their intention to turn the Arctic into a new front for opposing the development of Russia and its like-minded partners [...]
Our current opponents should have learned the many lessons of history by now and understood that attempts to speak to Russia in the language of sanctions and threats are futile.
❗️ Unfriendly and hostile actions have been and will continue to be met with an appropriate response.

| 5 | 🎙 Highlights from Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin interview to Rossiya Segodnya International Media Group
• The terrorist tactics against civilians and non-military facilities in our country, chosen by Kiev amid its failures on the battlefield, have indeed narrowed the scope for a political and diplomatic settlement of the crisis [...] The Kiev regime has objectively weakened its negotiating position.
• At the negotiating table, we have always been ready to discuss the complete and irreversible elimination of the root causes of the Ukrainian conflict. If, however, the negotiating process is being used as an attempt to buy time, secure a respite on the battlefield and build up military capabilities, we will not agree to such contacts.
• We are dealing with a situation in which Western sponsors are effectively exercising external control over the territories held by Kiev, fully funding the Zelensky regime and effectively depriving Ukraine of its genuine legal personality. These sponsors continue to work towards escalating the conflict.
• None of the leaders of NATO countries condemns the terrorist attacks carried out by the Ukrainian troops against Russian civilians, including women and children. Given that, it is difficult to discuss possible pathways to peace.
• The EU continues its destructive policy of supplying the Kiev regime with weapons and imposing sanctions pressure on our country that is illegitimate under international law. European leaders voice nothing but demands directed at our country, without any willingness to engage in an honest discussion of Russia's concerns.
• The EU's talk about negotiations is aimed at achieving a single objective – securing a respite for Kiev from the fighting. The ultimate goal remains unchanged: to preserve Ukraine as a foothold for further confrontation with Russia. Such an approach is unacceptable to Moscow. | 282 |
| 6 | ⚓️ August 31, 1941, exactly 85 years ago, saw the arrival of the first Arctic convoy, codenamed "Dervish," in the Soviet Union from Britain. It delivered 25,000 tonnes of various cargo to Arkhangelsk and marked the beginning of regular shipments between the USSR and the Allied powers via the Arctic route.
In total, during the Second World War, approximately 1,500 vessels, escorted by warships, made the journey to the Soviet Union and back as part of 78 Arctic convoys. They delivered thousands of aircraft and tanks, other weaponry and military hardware, as well as ammunition, medical supplies, fuel, strategically important raw materials, and various supplies essential for the nations of the anti-Hitler coalition in their fight against Nazi Germany and its allies.
The participants of the Arctic convoys were true heroes. Cargo delivery took place under extreme weather conditions with bitterly cold temperatures, gale-force winds, and heavy snowfall, while facing a constant threat from the German navy and air force. More than 3,000 sailors serving in the Arctic convoys gave their lives for the sake of victory over Nazism.
🕯Consul General of the Russian Federation Denis Moskalenko honoured the memory of the Arctic convoy participants by laying a wreath at the monument dedicated to them at Cove, in northwestern Scotland. It was there, in Loch Ewe, that convoys bound for the Soviet Union were assembled between January 1942 and December 1944.
The Consul General also visited the Arctic Convoy Museum in the village of Aultbea, on the shores of Loch Ewe, and thanked the staff for preserving the memory of our nations’ joint struggle against Nazism during the Second World War. | 286 |
| 7 | 8️⃣5️⃣ years ago, the first Arctic convoy – codenamed Dervish – arrived in Arkhangelsk.
The convoy set sail from Liverpool on 12 August 1941, stopping briefly in Iceland before reaching the USSR. It carried ammunition, aircraft and other essential supplies under the Lend-Lease programme.
This marked the beginning of a vital wartime lifeline to the Soviet Union. Between August 1941 and May 1945, 78 convoys crossed the Arctic seas from Britain, Iceland and North America to the USSR. More than 1,400 vessels delivered over 4 million tonnes of vital cargo.
Crews faced blizzards, drifting ice, freezing temperatures and the constant threat of German air and naval attacks along the 2,000-mile route to the northern Soviet ports.
The price was high. More than 3,000 Soviet, British, American and other Allied seamen lost their lives in these perilous voyages.
Thousands of sailors, pilots and other servicemen displayed extraordinary courage and self-sacrifice in some of the harshest conditions of the conflict. Their bravery forged a bond between our nations at one of the most difficult moments of the Second World War.
The memory of all those who risked everything in the fight for Victory will never fade. | 3 204 |
| 8 | 🎨 On this day in 1840, Russian artist Pavel Brullov was born.
Known for his stunning landscapes and captivating scenes of everyday life, he came from a prominent artistic family – his father was architect Alexander Brullov, while his uncle was the celebrated painter Karl Brullov.
Interestingly, Brullov was both a member of the Peredvizhniki (often called the Wanderers in English), who challenged the established academic art system, and a full member of the Imperial Academy of Arts.
After graduating from Saint Petersburg University with a degree in physics and mathematics, Brullov travelled extensively in Europe. He lived in Italy, France and England, where he also studied art history. | 457 |
| 9 | 🎙Russian MFA Spox Maria Zakharova on Russia-UK relations
💬 Russia-UK relations have been in a deep crisis for a long time.
Political dialogue is frozen, there are no intergovernmental contacts, and diplomatic communication is limited to technical and routine matters. Economic ties have been almost entirely severed, as have cultural and academic exchanges. All of this is compounded by anti-Russian rhetoric from the British side, including through the British media.
The British side is solely responsible for this state of affairs. For a number of years – or, rather, decades – London has deliberately taken destructive steps and has itself been loudly advertising them.
This includes the illegitimate campaign to impose sanctions, launched well before 2022; the dismantling in 2024, amid the European security crisis, of military-diplomatic channels of communication through the expulsion of our defence attaché on a contrived pretext; and the launch in 2025 of the Foreign Influence Registration Scheme, which introduced a discriminatory enhanced-tier regime for those seeking to engage with the Russian state.
All this has been accompanied by an entirely destructive policy on Ukraine, pursued at the cost of Ukrainian lives and the interests of British citizens [...]
By continuing along its current course, the United Kingdom is widening and deepening the conflict, acting in breach of its international legal obligations and contributing to the spread of dangerous military technologies across the continent and around the world.

| 10 | 🎙 Excerpt from statement by Russia's Permanent Representative Vassily Nebenzia at a UNSC Briefing on Hunger and Conflict
💬 A significant factor destabilising the global food market – one that our Western colleagues prefer to gloss over – is the imposition of illegal unilateral restrictive measures that circumvent the Security Council [...]
Against this backdrop, attempts to hold Russia responsible for volatility in global food prices are wholly untenable. It is even more strange to hear such accusations now, when the Kiev regime is stepping up drone attacks against civilian vessels in the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea, using unmanned systems and intelligence provided by NATO and EU countries.
In July alone, more than one hundred such attacks were recorded against commercial vessels carrying Russian agricultural products. These strikes by the Ukrainian troops make no military sense and violate international law. They have already caused delays in supplies of grain, oilseeds and feed crops to international importers [...]
Since our Western colleagues are so enthusiastically championing the protection of global trade routes, they should rein in their protégés in Kiev, who are adding fuel to the fire of the food crisis.

| 11 | 🎙 Russian MFA Spox Maria Zakharova on Britain's involvement in the Ukraine conflict
💬 The latest developments leave no doubt that all steps taken by the British government are geared towards achieving a single long-term objective – inflicting what they themselves call a “strategic defeat” on our country.
It is all doomed to fail, but London is fully implicated in this.
We have repeatedly warned that Ukrainian strikes against Russian territory using British weapons may be met with attacks on any British military facilities and equipment in Ukraine and beyond its borders.
Those responsible for war crimes, including crimes against the civilian population of our country, will be punished in accordance with their deeds. Inevitable retribution will also reach their accomplices and instigators.
We call on all residents of the United Kingdom to consider the inevitable catastrophic consequences of the hostile actions of their own authorities.
As for the British leadership, we urge it once again to carefully assess the situation and immediately, decisively and unambiguously abandon its hostile and aggressive policy, which can only prolong the agony of the Kiev regime and create the risk of the conflict being taken to an entirely new level.

| 12 | 🏛 An exhibition titled “Crimean Gold: ‘Civilised’ Europe Plunders Russian Treasures” is currently on display at the Consular Section of the Russian Embassy in London.
The exhibition was prepared by the Russian Military Historical Society and focuses on unique Crimean artefacts discovered during archaeological expeditions and kept for many years in the region’s largest museums.
❗️Today, these exhibits are being illegally withheld by Ukraine and its Western allies.
In 2013, four Crimean museums temporarily loaned more than 580 items to the University of Bonn and the Allard Pierson Museum in the Netherlands for the exhibition “Crimea: Gold and Secrets of the Black Sea”. After Crimea became part of Russia, Ukraine claimed ownership of the collection. Dutch courts ruled that the historical artefacts should be “returned” to Ukraine, rejecting an appeal by the Crimean museums.
🎙 Excerpt from a briefing by Russian MFA Spokesperson Maria Zakharova:
Representatives of the leadership of foreign museums grossly violated their contractual obligations to serve the political interests of unfriendly countries.
At the same time, the corrupted Kiev regime plans to put the Crimean gold into financial and economic circulation. Russia’s historical heritage may soon end up in the collection of a wealthy Western collector or, for example, in the hands of another Ukrainian oligarch-lawmaker. | 487 |

💬 Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rodion Miroshnik:
On August 26, nine people were killed in a Ukrainian strike on a civilian bus in the Lugansk People's Republic.
Five people were injured. The bus was travelling on the Lisichansk-Stakhanov route.
***
💬 Head of the Lugansk People's Republic Leonid Pasechnik:
Eight people were killed at the scene. A 20-year-old woman was rushed to intensive care, but doctors were unable to save her. Her mother was injured.
An 18-year-old woman was also wounded and hospitalized. Three other passengers and the driver received medical treatment and were released for outpatient care.
❗️ This is yet another act of terrorism by the Kiev regime – cynical, inhuman and without justification.
It is a war crime, and those responsible will inevitably face the punishment they deserve.
Investigators from the Russian Investigative Committee are documenting the consequences of the attack. | 350 |
| 15 | 💬 Russia's High Commissioner for Human Rights Yana Lantratova:
On August 26 in Gomel (Republic of Belarus), a 10-for-10 POW exchange took place. In return for the 10 Ukrainian POWs repatriated on August 24, the Ukrainian side returned 10 Russian servicemen.
☝️ It is a matter of principle for us that every Russian serviceman held in captivity knows that he has not been forgotten, that he is awaited at home, and that efforts to secure his return continue.
We thank everyone involved in this humanitarian mission. Special gratitude from the servicemen’s families and loved ones goes to President Vladimir Putin, Russia's Defence Ministry and the relevant agencies.
🤝 We also express our sincere appreciation to the Republic of Belarus for its assistance in bringing our servicemen home. | 359 |
| 16 | 🎙 Excerpts from statement by Russia's Permanent Representative Vassily Nebenzia at a UNSC briefing on Ukraine
🔹 It is particularly ironic that those now presenting themselves as champions of peace are the same states that spent years turning Ukraine into an instrument of military and political pressure on Russia. They also encouraged Kiev to abandon the Minsk agreements and openly hoped for Russia’s “strategic defeat.” Yet today they claim that they are “not parties to the conflict” and are “merely helping Ukraine defend itself.”
🔹 Today’s meeting is being held under the banner of the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence. But is there really anything to celebrate? Ukraine’s history is being systematically rewritten. The Soviet legacy is being denigrated, while Hitler’s followers and collaborators, responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Russians, Jews, Poles and Ukrainians during WWII, are being glorified.
🔹Everything connected with our shared past is being erased. The Kiev authorities are showing open Russophobia and xenophobia, including towards their own citizens who are Russian not only by blood, but also by culture.
🔹 The Kiev regime has now clearly turned to outright terror against Russia’s civilian population. Between 10 and 16 August alone, 475 civilians were affected by attacks by the Ukrainian army: 406 people, including 16 children, were injured, while 69 people, including three children, were killed.
🔹 There will be no agreements that come at the expense of Russia’s security interests. Any attempt to impose a freeze on the conflict under the guise of a ceasefire – in reality, simply giving Kiev time to regroup and rearm – is doomed to fail. As long as we are confronted with ultimatums, terror and threats, while the realities on the ground are ignored, there can be no basis for meaningful political and diplomatic dialogue.

| 18 | 🎙 Excerpt from Russian MFA Spox Maria Zakharova's weekly briefing on exhumation in Europe of the remains of Ukrainian nationalists for solemn reburial in Ukraine
💬 On 11 August, the remains of Yevgeny Konovalets – founder and first leader of the Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) – were exhumed from the Crooswijk municipal cemetery in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. In Ukraine, he was given a state funeral with military honours.
The overtly theatrical nature of the ceremony is striking. Held at night at Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Kiev, it featured Ukrainian servicemen forming a torchlit corridor.
The historical parallel is difficult to ignore: torchlight processions were a hallmark of Nazi propaganda, including the procession staged in Berlin on 30 January 1933 to mark Hitler’s appointment as Reich Chancellor.
Are we now to be told that there are no Nazis in Ukraine? Nonsense. They are present, they are numerous, and they are in power – though not for long.

| 19 | 🎙 Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov's comment on the UK's decision to hand Ukraine Storm Shadow blueprints
💬 Britain is methodically and consistently pouring fuel on the fire, and constantly scheming to prevent any progress in the peace settlement process. This is precisely what the United Kingdom is doing.
Russia's Armed Forces are carrying out the relevant work and gathering data to identify the production sites for such missiles and other military equipment, and are taking measures to destroy them. | 497 |
| 20 | 💬 President Vladimir Putin: When it comes to current developments, it is, of course, the result of yet another misadventure by the Kiev regime and its Western allies, who planned to inflict another 'strategic defeat' on Russia. This time, it was intended to be achieved within 40 days through massive missile and UAV strikes against our civilian facilities and logistics.
There has been no turning point in the confrontation with Russia, and there will not be. The Kiev regime and its patrons cannot gain any advantage, have not gained any, and never will.
In response to this obvious escalation – based not on an objective analysis of the situation on the battlefield or the state of the Ukrainian economy, society and state, all of which are corroded by corruption, but on PR and ambition – we have increased strikes on Ukraine’s defence industry enterprises, including those in Kiev.
We are also responding to the enemy’s actions against our civilian industrial and logistics facilities.
Russia's response to another provocation by Kiev regime is, by all appearances, causing them serious repercussions and bringing some primary areas to a crisis. This is why the Kiev authorities are now trying to get out of the current situation via intermediaries, whose opinion we respect. I want to stress that they provoked this situation themselves.
