The ongoing gang war tit for tat eston Middlesbrough ARMED cops have been spotted on a Middlesbrough street today after a stabbing unfolded down the road from a fatal house fire. It comes after a house was rammed by a car just a few streets from where a girl and her aunt died in a fire amid fears of a tit-for-tat gang war. A man, 39, has been stabbed at a house at the Bankfields estate in Eston, with armed cops swarming the road and football pitch nearby. Cleveland Police said: “A 39-year-old man is receiving treatment following an assault involving a bladed weapon in an address on Sedgemoor Road in Eston around midday today. No arrests have been made at this time, however, enquiries are ongoing into the incident.” Police have not ruled out a link between the knife attack and the deadly A66 crash that killed seven – including two police officers. It comes after the front garden wall of an address in Middlesbrough was repeatedly rammed by a car in the early hours of this morning.

A suspected underworld shooting erupted inside a north London corner shop — only for the intended victim to fight back and wrestle the gunman as bullets flew. Mustafa Bolat, 29, walked into the Wood Green store armed with a pistol and fired three shots at Ali Unlu. But Unlu reacted instantly, grabbing the gunman’s arm and forcing the weapon away from him. One shot was fired just inches from his head. The pair crashed into shelves and boxes of fruit as Unlu battled to disarm his attacker, sending apples and oranges flying across the floor. Shocking CCTV footage captured the terrifying struggle before Bolat eventually broke free and calmly walked out. Unlu then hurled a bottle at him as terrified witnesses called 999. The motive remains unclear as neither man agreed to assist police. Both are believed to have Turkish heritage, with Wood Green long associated with Turkish gangland activity. Bolat admitted possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence but was cleared by an Old Bailey jury of attempted murder and possessing a firearm and ammunition with intent to endanger life. He admitted firing the shots but claimed he only wanted to scare Unlu. Bolat, of Tottenham, was remanded in custody ahead of sentencing on November 13.

21-year-old Gabriel Levy, a Jewish man from Wakefield, has been jailed for 28 months at Leeds Crown Court after making anonymous death threats against two mosques in Manchester. He called Al-Sunnah Mosque from a withheld number and said: “I’m going to come to your mosque and kill you.” Just a few hours later, police went to his home, arrested him and seized his mobile phone. Further investigations found that he had also called Iqra Mosque on the same day. He told a member of staff: “I am going to kill you Muslim.” The police also found concerning messages on his phone containing Islamophobic and racist language, as well as other hateful content. He claimed he made the threats in response to the attack on a synagogue in Manchester.

Met seize knives after sawing through front door of alleged weapons smuggler Body-worn video footage captures the moment the door is busted down and more than a dozen officers swoop on the property on Wandsworth Road, Lambeth, at 05:09hrs on Tuesday, 25 August. The warrant was executed after intelligence suggested illegal knives were being imported into the UK and allegedly linked to the address. During a search of the property, officers recovered a box containing ten knives, including lock knives and flick knives. Detectives allege the suspect is linked to the attempted importation of a significant number of knives from China, including zombie knives, which were intercepted by Border Force before they could reach the streets. The investigation was subsequently taken on by detectives from the Met's Specialist Crime Command. A man in his twenties was arrested on suspicion of importing prohibited weapons into the UK. He remains in custody while enquiries continue.

Man jailed for life for fatal shooting in Brixton On Friday, 21 August a jury at Croydon Crown Court found Trevin Campbell, 35 (1st pic) guilty of murder. At the same court on Tuesday, 25 August he was sentenced to life imprisonment and ordered to serve a minimum tariff of 30 years. At around 06:13hrs on 21 October 2021, police were called to Kings College Hospital where Gary Mayhew had self-presented with gunshot wounds to his legs. Despite the efforts of medical staff, the 32-year-old sadly died in hospital later that day. Police established that Gary had been shot minutes after leaving a silent disco in Belinda Road, Brixton, at around 06:00hrs. Campbell was quickly identified as a suspect and was arrested four days after the murder, as he boarded a flight to Jamaica from Gatwick Airport. The gun has never been recovered. He was charged with murder, but the matter was discontinued pending further enquiries in January 2022 after the Crown Prosecution Service established there was insufficient prospect of conviction. Detectives continued to investigate the case, determined to secure justice for Gary’s family. To build the case against Campbell, officers reviewed key pieces of CCTV, recovered mobile phone data that linked him to the scene and obtained expert ballistics evidence that supported the theory he had fired the shot from a pistol hidden in his jacket pocket. That led to his re-arrest on 12 December 2025. The Crown Prosecution Service authorised charges, and Campbell appeared at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on 13 December 2025 charged with murder. Following a two-week trial at Croydon Crown Court, Campbell, of Harrington Road, South Norwood, was found guilty on Friday, 21 August of murder.

More than £300,000 has been raised for the families of two police officers killed when joyriders crashed into them on a dual carriageway. PC Matthew Blades, 37, and PC Tom Clough, 38, died early on Saturday when a Volkswagen Passat travelling the wrong way down the A66 near Middlesbrough crashed head-on into their police car. Two GoFundMe pages have been created for the officers' families, with Cleveland Police Federation's effort raising almost £290,000 as of this morning. The federation said its officers had 'paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty' and left behind 'heartbroken loved ones'. It added the funds raised would be split equally between the families. A second fundraiser raised a further £30,000 for the officers' relatives after they died 'protecting the public and putting themselves in harm’s way for others'.
