Met seize knives after sawing through front door of alleged weapons smuggler
Body-worn video footage captures the moment the door is busted down and more than a dozen officers swoop on the property on Wandsworth Road, Lambeth, at 05:09hrs on Tuesday, 25 August.
The warrant was executed after intelligence suggested illegal knives were being imported into the UK and allegedly linked to the address.
During a search of the property, officers recovered a box containing ten knives, including lock knives and flick knives.
Detectives allege the suspect is linked to the attempted importation of a significant number of knives from China, including zombie knives, which were intercepted by Border Force before they could reach the streets.
The investigation was subsequently taken on by detectives from the Met's Specialist Crime Command.
A man in his twenties was arrested on suspicion of importing prohibited weapons into the UK. He remains in custody while enquiries continue.

Man jailed for life for fatal shooting in Brixton
On Friday, 21 August a jury at Croydon Crown Court found Trevin Campbell, 35 (1st pic) guilty of murder. At the same court on Tuesday, 25 August he was sentenced to life imprisonment and ordered to serve a minimum tariff of 30 years.
At around 06:13hrs on 21 October 2021, police were called to Kings College Hospital where Gary Mayhew had self-presented with gunshot wounds to his legs. Despite the efforts of medical staff, the 32-year-old sadly died in hospital later that day.
Police established that Gary had been shot minutes after leaving a silent disco in Belinda Road, Brixton, at around 06:00hrs.
Campbell was quickly identified as a suspect and was arrested four days after the murder, as he boarded a flight to Jamaica from Gatwick Airport. The gun has never been recovered.
He was charged with murder, but the matter was discontinued pending further enquiries in January 2022 after the Crown Prosecution Service established there was insufficient prospect of conviction.
Detectives continued to investigate the case, determined to secure justice for Gary’s family.
To build the case against Campbell, officers reviewed key pieces of CCTV, recovered mobile phone data that linked him to the scene and obtained expert ballistics evidence that supported the theory he had fired the shot from a pistol hidden in his jacket pocket.
That led to his re-arrest on 12 December 2025. The Crown Prosecution Service authorised charges, and Campbell appeared at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on 13 December 2025 charged with murder.
Following a two-week trial at Croydon Crown Court, Campbell, of Harrington Road, South Norwood, was found guilty on Friday, 21 August of murder.
