For CMU-Q, I got accepted to Business Administration major.
Do we have anyone here considering BA as their major or do you think it's a legit major to pursue?

Yo’lingizni birga bosib o’tamiz - Sodiq school!
🥇Kechagina maktab o’quvchisi bugun dunyoda TOP naqd 4 ta universitetga qabul qilinishi tasodifmi?
🤔11-sinf o‘quvchimiz Abrorbek Samijonov. Prezident maktabida o‘qish, Flex dasturi orqali 1 yil Amerikada yashash va Sodiq school'ga grand bilan qabul qilinishi oddiy holatmi?
📊Kuchli "baza" bor, lekin tashabbus, loyihalarni amalga oshirish uchun yetarlimi?

Repost from Freshman Academy
🎉 Welcome to Bowdoin, Abrorbek!
Abrorbek Samijonov, a graduate of Sodiq School and founder of ScholarConnect, has been admitted to Bowdoin College on a $388,000 scholarship and Carnegie Mellon Qatar to study Computer Science and Education Studies!
Abrorbek was enrolled in the Full Support 2025 program. He worked with Valera, Sega, and Sanjar on everything from essay writing to strategizing his extracurriculars. Notably, he authored his research paper “Bitcoin Adoption and Its Socioeconomic Impact: Lessons from El Salvador” under Dr. Lyusyena’s guidance.
As co-founder of ScholarConnect, Abrorbek and his team have helped 100+ students connect with university professors to gain exposure to academic research. He also attended the Babson Summer Study program, which helped him refine the core entrepreneurial skills he used to lead ScholarConnect.
💭 Reflecting on her journey with Freshman, Abrorbek said:
“I joined Freshman Academy's Full Support almost 1.5 years ago. Since then, Valera has helped me build my extracurriculars strategically and discover what I was truly passionate about. Every single task he assigned or suggested was extremely helpful, ranging from the books and stories to the Reflections List by Freshman Academy. And the way Valera pushes students is elite.
Regarding my research, I spent five months constantly reading and analyzing under the guidance of Dr. Lyusyena. Freshman Team was careful with every single detail in the application and sleepless nights with Sega, Valera and Sanjar during admissions were worth every second.
What I respect the most about Freshman's approach is that they make you do the work. It might be difficult at first, but in the long-term, this is what developed my skillset and matured me as a person. They approach everyone individually, and recommend what's best for your context.
I am grateful to Freshman Academy for helping me realize my dream, and to myself for making the right choice.”
🌟As Abrorbek enrolls at Bowdoin, we wish him the best on his journey exploring computer science, education, and combining the two through Ed-Tech ventures across the globe!

I am often using the slang term "try-hard" and I think I picked it up from my friend. I just confirmed the meaning from the internet.
What do you think it means?

I am realizing that a lot of people have never heard about Bowdoin, even the ones within admissions field.
I'd say it's normal as Bowdoin is a very small college and not a lot of Uzbeks study there. I myself had confusion about the pronounciation of it until recently😁.
It's a small liberal arts college and ranked #5 among National Liberal Arts Colleges. It's located in Maine right above Boston. I myself didn't know a lot about Bowdoin and learning new things about it every day.
What do you know about Liberal Arts Colleges and Bowdoin, specifically?

Summer\Exchange Programs.
We often see students who get into Top Universities have summer programs or exchange programs listed in their portfolio.
I, myself, participated in Babson Summer Study, FLEX, LaunchX, Leaders of Tomorrow and got accepted to a bunch of other programs like YYGS and Pioneer Research.
But, does that mean these kinds of programs increase your chances to Top Unis or do such talented students tend to seek and earn such opportunities. I think it’s both in a way.
Those programs provide access to global academia, elite mentorship, network of like-minded students and help you grow as a global citizen. Although the duration might seem short, students will get massive growth and it almost feels like an upgrade in mindset. As Top Unis need global-minded students, it's normal for the graduates of these programs to get into such universities. However, I believe acceptance to a university is only a by-product of attending summer programs. The real, direct benefit lies in the long-term.
Given all these benefits, some people still don't seize the opportunity of such privileges. Some are late to apply. Some are lazy. I also couldn't apply to a lot of programs, which I sometimes regret.
Applying is a choice. So is staying where you are.

At the end of the day, everybody has a private life and absolutely no one has the agency to step into someone’s private space no matter how close they are. Sometimes we forget that and end up earning disappointment for ourselves.
And I think I grew expressive of my emotions over time and overshared my opinion when I could have stayed silent. I realized that sometimes it’s better not to comment on other people’s actions and decisions.
Why try to change other people while you can easily change yourself and care less

World is small. Whenever I meet someone new, there's a high chance that both of know someone in common. In Abu Dhabi, I met a guy from Lithuania and apparently, one of my friends was working on the same project with him. Later, another dude was coming up to me and saying that my double placement in FLEX goes to the same school as him.
In Tashkent, it's even more common. Maybe it's because most people I meet are in the education field. Anyways, I think it's a good thing to have.

+3
I watched the newly released "Tamerlane: Rise of the Last Conqueror" movie and got disappointed due to my huge expectations. Even though it has probably the best cast and VFX among other Uzbek films, I felt that it could have been much better if the flow and transition between events was better. I felt that the transitions were too abrupt.
Another aspect that contributed to my disappointment was choosing Christian Mortensen for the role of Amir Temur. In the opening scene, I almost thought it was a great choice as his big frame perfectly illustrated Amir Temur's aura. But as the movie went on, I thought he didn't have enough charisma to show Amir Temur's decisiveness, authoritativeness and temper, which are crucial to portraying the intensity of the situation.
The film covered only a part of Temur's reign and the culmination was obviously "The battle of the mud".
Overall, I'd give the film a solid 5/10.

Delegation is far more important than we think.
A newbie businessman would want to do everything on his own as only he'll be content only when HE does each task. Unfortunately, 24 hours won't be enough for all tasks as the business expands. Therefore, giving power and agency to make decisions to employees at the early stage is essential.
Another point is the incentive for employees. Young, motivated employees tend to go to workplaces that give more power, opportunities for job rotation and promotion. I believe having a young and motivated staff is crucial to scaling the business.
It's all common sense but I am realizing the essence of delegation from time to time.
