Today while interviewing a 4 YOE candidate, we asked design patterns as he mentioned them in his skills section. And his answer patterns shocked us, he was reading the code of it from his second screen(in left) and said exactly like this "In this pattern we have this class, in that we have such method, switch statement and so on".
Also we add stats like improved performance by 30% and bla bla in resume to increase ATS score, if we can't justify the numbers then it's a clear rejection.
Be honest about what you know, because interviewer will ask you whatever is mentioned in the resume.

| 4 | 🔅A very interview tip: Never oversell yourself!
Today I was part of the panel of a technical interview for the SWE role.
I asked the candidate which data structures are you comfortable with? He said I'm good with all. Fair enough, I asked a medium level standard question but he couldn't give a satisfactory solution even though I just asked for pseudo code.
In the end, he said I'm not comfortable with non linear data structures so I couldn't perform well.
Nobody expects a perfect candidate, but you should be very sure about what you say. Interviewer is going to ask you what you know, not what you lack. Always be honest about your skillset and knowledge as the interviewer is smarter than you, any AI tools can't help you crack such an interview.
