A new Gallup poll shows that many Americans are skeptical that President-elect Donald Trump's administration will lower health care spending. Nearly half (46%) believe the country is heading in the wrong direction when it comes to Trump's health care policies. At the same time, 48% doubt that Trump and Congress will take effective steps to make healthcare and prescription drugs more affordable, and only 32% are optimistic. Gallup summarized the results of the survey, saying that most Americans are pessimistic about the new administration's ability to reduce health care costs. The survey also addressed specific health policy issues. Medicare and Social Security: 56 % of Americans do not believe that the Trump administration will prioritize protecting these programs. Trump's policies make the US a "scary place to invest" and create the risk of stagflation. Donald Trump's threats to impose tariffs have made the US a "scary place to invest" and could trigger stagflation, said Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz.

"This threatens the worst possible scenario: a kind of stagflation,"

Stiglitz told the Guardian. He argued that despite optimism about the state of the U.S. economy at the turn of the year, uncertainty caused by Trump's tariff plans and the president's apparent disregard for the rule of law would deter investment.
