| 6 | Welcome to our series: Startups VS Big Tech 🚀
In this series, we break down the difference between PM roles in Startups vs Big Tech for students — from the skills to build, to interview prep, and the roles you can explore.
Today’s topic: How does each path shape your career?
Where you start as a PM shapes how you think, grow, and the opportunities you unlock later on.
🔶 Startups
You’ll develop a broader product vision and an entrepreneurial mindset.
➡️ Common outcomes:
- Founder / startup builder
- Early-stage product leader
- Generalist PM with strong ownership
🔷 Big Companies
You’ll build strong analytical skills and operational expertise.
➡️ Common outcomes:
- Senior PM / Product Lead
- Specialist roles (growth, platform, data)
- Leadership in large-scale products
Many PMs move between both paths — combining the best of both worlds. ✨ There’s no “perfect” path — only the one that aligns with your goals.

| 8 | Welcome to our series: Startups VS Big Tech 🚀
In this series, we break down the difference between PM roles in Startups vs Big Tech for students — from the skills to build, to interview prep, and the roles you can explore.
Today’s topic: What skills do PMs actually need in Startups vs Big Tech?
The role of a PM isn’t the same everywhere.
Your day-to-day, the skills you build, and even interviews can look very different depending on the company.
🔶 Startups
You’ll focus on discovering problems, talking to users, and testing ideas quickly.
🎯 Interviews focus on:
- Vision
- Problem-solving
- Creativity
🔷 Big Companies
You’ll focus on data, improving systems, and scaling products.
🎯 Interviews focus on:
- Metrics thinking
- Structured problem-solving
- Analytical reasoning
✨ Both paths shape you into different kinds of PMs — and both are valuable.

In this series, we break down the difference between PM roles in Startups vs Big Tech for students — from the skills to build, to interview prep, and the roles you can explore.
Today’s topic: What do PMs actually do?
Breaking into PM isn’t one fixed path.
Where you work shapes how you think and grow as a PM.
🔶 Startups
Focus on understanding user problems, defining what to build, and testing ideas quickly. You’ll work on 0→1 products, wear multiple hats, and learn fast.
🔷 Big Companies
Focus on data, optimization, and scaling products. You’ll analyze metrics, align stakeholders, and improve existing systems.
Both paths build valuable but different skillsets:
⚡ Startups → product intuition, ownership, experimentation
📊 Big Tech → analytics, structured thinking, operational excellence
✨ There’s no “better” path — only what fits your goals.

| 11 | Which Product Crossroads hit closest to home? 🏡 | 0 |
| 12 | We're back with another real product decision. ✨
Product Crossroads #3 features a PM navigating something every PM at a large company will face: when the "right" fix isn't always the obvious priority.
Today's Feature: PM at an MNC 🏢
Big companies move with structure. Pipelines are planned, resources are allocated, and stakeholders have expectations.
So what happens when you spot a problem that wasn't on anyone's radar?
The Trade-Off: Fix v. Stick 🛠️
It's easy to keep moving when the roadmap is already set.
But strong PMs pause to ask: Are we skipping this because it's not important, or because it's not easy to justify?
✨ Key takeaway:
📊 Let the data fight your battles.
🙋 Advocate for the user, even when the pipeline says otherwise.
⭐️ That's a wrap on our first run of Product Crossroads! 🎬 If you want to see more real PM decisions broken down like this, drop us a follow on our socials!

| 14 | We're back with another real product decision. 🗺️
Product Crossroads #2 features a PM navigating something textbooks don't prepare you for: making product calls 10,000km from home.
Today's Feature: PM in NOC Munich 🇩🇪
Being embedded abroad through NOC means you're the only person on your team who truly sees what's in front of you.
The Trade-Off: Back Yourself vs. Read the Room 🧭
When you're new to a market, it's tempting to defer to everyone around you.
But strong PMs learn to ask:
Is this a knowledge gap or am I discounting my own perspective too quickly?
In this case, the tension wasn't just about the product. It was about learning to trust your instincts in an unfamiliar room.
✨ Key takeaway:
🌍 Your outsider perspective is data, learn to use it.
🔍 Not knowing the room is a research opportunity, not a disadvantage.

| 19 | Which PM-adjacent role are you most interested in? | 0 |
| 20 | Welcome back to our series: “How to Break into PM.” 🚀
Today’s topic: Possible Entry Paths into Product Management
You might be wondering: “Do I need to start as a PM to become one?”
The short answer: no.
In reality, most PMs don’t start in PM. They transition from adjacent roles such as business analyst, product operation, product analyst, growth marketer, project manager, etc.
Each of these paths builds a different set of skills — from problem structuring and process optimisation to data analysis and user understanding.
💡Key Takeaway:
The key is the skills you build — not the job title
