For there is no month in the year after Ramadan that is greater with Allaah than Muharram.

| 6 | Ibn Al-Jawzi rahimahullah states:
اعلم أن الجزاء بالمرصاد: إن كانت حسنة، أو كانت سيئة. ومن الاغترار أن يظن المذنب إذا لم ير عقوبة أنه قد سومح، وربما جاءت العقوبة بعد مدة، وقلّ مَن فعل ذنبًا إلا وقوبل عليه، قال عز وجل: ﴿من يعمل سوءًا يجز به [النساء: 123]
Know that recompense is inevitable: whether it relates to a good deed or an evil one. It is delusional for the sinner to think that if he is not immediately punished, then he has been pardoned. The punishment may come after some time, and rarely does one commit a sin without eventually facing its consequences.
Allāh the Exalted has said:
Whoever does evil will be recompensed for it.
[An-Nisa: 123].

From the greatest virtues is that in it is the day 'Āshūrā',
which the Prophet ﷺ informed that fasting it expiates [the sins of] the previous year.

The Prophet (ﷺ) was asked:
Which prayer is best after the obligatory prayers, and which fasting is best after the month of Ramadan?
He (ﷺ) said:
The best prayer after the prescribed prayer is prayer in the middle of the night (tahajjud), and the best fasting after the month of Ramadan is fasting in the month of Allah, Muharram.

how amazing is the heart! a small piece of flesh that could fit in the palm of a hand. If it is content, it makes the one who lives in a pit seem as though he owns the whole world; and if it is miserable, it makes the owner of the whole world seem like one who lives in a pit. | 729 |
| 11 |  The purpose of du'ā is not to inform Allāh (of your needs for He already knows). Rather, it is to manifest your fragility, humility and brokenness before Him, and to acknowledge that everything is from Allāh.

| 12 | From Abu Hurairah from the Messenger of Allaah [ﷺ] who said:
Whoever says when he goes to his bed to sleep:
«لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ، وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ، وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ سبحانَ اللهِ، والحمدُ لله، ولا إله إلا الله، واللهُ أكبرُ.»
'There is none worthy of worship in truth except Allaah Alone, He has no partners, He has the Dominion and for Him is all praise. He is capable of all things, there is no capability nor is there any power except with Allaah, far is Allaah from imperfection and praise is for Him, there is none worthy of worship in truth except Allaah and Allaah is the Greatest.
Then his sins are forgiven – or his mistakes – even if they were like the foam on the sea.

إِذَا كُنْتَ فِي زَمَانٍ يُرْضَى فِيهِ بِالْقَوْلِ دُونَ الْفِعْلِ، وَالْعِلْمِ دُونَ الْعَمَلِ، فَاعْلَمْ بِأَنَّكَ فِي شَرِّ زَمَانٍ بَيْنَ شَرِّ النَّاسِ.
If you live in a time in which people are content with speech without action,
and with knowledge without implementation,
then know that you are in the worst of times among the worst of people.

| 17 | ʿUmar ibn al-Khattāb (رضي الله عنه) said:
تَلَقَّوُا الحَاجَّ وَالعُمَّارَ وَالغُزَاةَ فَلْيَدْعُوا لَكُمْ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَتَدَنَّسُوا
Meet the pilgrims of Hajj, the pilgrims of ʿUmrah, and those returning from military expeditions,
and ask them to supplicate for you before they become affected by the impurities [of sins].

Indeed by seeking forgiveness, Allaah opens up the way for the slave.
