Hasan al Basri رحمه الله : Allaah unfolded (opened) the year with a sacred month MUHARRAM, and sealed it with a sacred month DHUL HIJJAH, For there is no month in the year after Ramadan that is greater with ALLAH ﷻ than Muharram. [Lata’if al-Ma’arif, 79, al-Hasan al-Basri رحمه الله]

2
Do not violate the symbols of Allah, nor the sacred month, nor the sacrificial animals, nor the garlanded animals, nor those heading for the Sacred House, seeking the bounty of their Lord and His pleasure. قال الله تعالى : إِنَّ عِدَّةَ ٱلشُّهُورِ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ٱثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْرًۭا فِى كِتَـٰبِ ٱللَّهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ مِنْهَآ أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌۭ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلدِّينُ ٱلْقَيِّمُ ۚ فَلَا تَظْلِمُوا۟ فِيهِنَّ أَنفُسَكُمْ (التوبة : ٣٦) Indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve months in the decree of Allah from the day He created the heavens and the earth; of these, four are sacred. That is the correct religion, so do not wrong yourselves during them. قال رسول الله ﷺ: إِنَّ الزَّمَانَ قَدِ اسْتَدَارَ كَهَيْئَتِهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ، السَّنَةُ اثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْرًا، مِنْهَا أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ: ثَلَاثٌ مُتَوَالِيَاتٌ: ذُو الْقَعْدَةِ، وَذُو الْحِجَّةِ، وَالْمُحَرَّمُ، وَرَجَبُ مُضَرَ الَّذِي بَيْنَ جُمَادَى وَشَعْبَانَ (صحيح البخاري : ٣١٩٧) "Time has come back to its original state as it was on the day Allah created the heavens and the earth. The year is twelve months, of which four are sacred: three consecutive months—Dhul-Qa'dah, Dhul-Hijjah and Muharram—and Rajab of Mudar, which comes between Jumada and Sha'ban (تفسير البغوي) Righteous deeds carry a greater reward during the sacred months, and wrongdoing during them is more serious than wrongdoing at other times, even though wrongdoing is grave in every circumstance." قال رسول الله ﷺ: أفضَلُ الصِّيامِ بَعدَ رَمَضانَ شَهرُ اللهِ المُحَرَّمُ، وأفضَلُ الصَّلاةِ بَعدَ الفَريضةِ صَلاةُ اللَّيلِ ( صحيح مسلم ١١٦٣) "The best fasting after Ramadan is in Allah's month of Muharram, and the best prayer after the obligatory prayers is the night prayer."

Dreams are of three types: • Thoughts and concerns of one's own mind, • Frightening dreams from Satan, • Glad tidings from Allah. So whoever sees something that he dislikes, let him not tell it to anyone, and let him get up and pray.

«قد يُعسِّر الله سبحانه وتعالى عليك أمرًا لكي تلجأ إليه، وتتضرع وتنكسر بين يديه؛ "Allah, Glory be to Him, the Most High, may make a matter difficult for you so that you may turn to Him, supplicate with humility, and feel broken before Him. فهو سبحانه يحب أن يرى عبده خاضعًا له، يدعوه بعينٍ فائضة بالدموع، وقلبٍ موقنٍ بالإجابة.. For He, Glory be to Him, loves to see His servant submitting to Him—calling upon Him with eyes overflowing with tears and a heart certain of the response. فما ردَّ الله عبدًا انكسر على بابه، بل يستجيب له ويجبره». Allah never turns away a servant who comes broken to His door; rather, He responds to them and mends their heart."

"Is He [not best] who responds to the desperate one when he calls upon Him and removes evil and makes you inheritors of the earth?" (Surah An-Naml, 27:62) (Tafsir Al-Qurtubi: 16/193): "Allah Almighty has guaranteed to respond to the desperate person when they call upon Him, and He has stated this about Himself. The reason for this is that desperation drives a person to seek refuge in Him with absolute sincerity, completely detaching the heart from everything else. In the sight of Allah, sincerity holds a profound status and protection—whether it comes from a believer or a disbeliever, an obedient person or a sinner."

He brings them out from darknesses into the light. And those who disbelieve - their allies are Taghut (false deities), they take them out of the light into darknesses. Those are the companions of the Fire, they will abide eternally therein." Surah Al-Baqarah [2:257]

Imām as-Sa'di رحمه الله said: When one dedicates themselves to good and appropriate deeds during these times-early morning, late afternoon, and a portion of the night, especially its final hours-they attain the greatest share of lasting good deeds, achieving happiness, success, and comfort. They fulfill their worldly aims and personal desires with ease and tranquility.

A matter pressed heavily upon me, causing constant and inescapable grief, وأخذت أبالغ في الفكر في الخلاص من هذه الهموم بكل حيلة وبكل وجه and I began to overthing, searching for a way out of these worries by every trick and means possible, فما رأيت طريقًا للخلاص but I found no path to deliverance. فعَرَضَتْ لي هذه الآية: ﴿وَمَن يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَل لَّهُ مَخْرَجًا﴾ Then, this verse came to my mind: 'And whoever fears Allah, He will make for him a way out'[Quran 65:2]. Thus, I realized that piety (Taqwa) is the key to deliverance from all grief. No sooner did I resolve to realize true piety in myself than I found the way out.

"If the curtains of the unseen were unfolded for you, you would have loved your sadness. And if you were to see how rewards are scooped out abundantly for the patient ones, your heart would be overjoyed, and you would find sweetness in every prick of pain."

Perhaps Allah wanted to reassure your heart at this very moment. No matter how difficult the path may seem, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. For your Lord is Most Kind and Gracious to His servants; He disposes all affairs with wisdom and mercy, and He brings ease after hardship, and relief after distress. Trust in Allah, think well of Him, and persist in your supplication. For never has a servant failed who placed their hope in Him, nor has anyone gone astray who entrusted their affairs to Him. Perhaps what you are waiting for is near, and perhaps the goodness Allah has decreed for you is far greater than anything you could ever imagine. "And whoever places their trust in Allah, then He is sufficient for them." (Quran 65:3)

"The seasons of obedience have concluded, and those days of Allah have passed; Ramadan is gone, the last ten nights have passed, and Laylat al-Qadr—and what can make you know what Laylat al-Qadr is—has gone by. We have magnified Allah for having guided us, Eid al-Fitr has ended, and the time of I'tikaf (spiritual seclusion) has departed. In the blink of an eye, the ten nights of Dhul-Hijjah came to an end, after Allah blessed us to reach the Day of Arafah and to make supplications upon it. Then came the Day of Sacrifice (EId al-Adha), and we slaughtered our sacrifices in obedience to Allah's command, and now the Days of Tashreeq are nearing their end. Everything has concluded, my friend, yet the Quran has not ended, nor has prayer, nor has supplication, prostration, the night prayer, or sincerity with Allah. So always remember the saying of the Almighty: « يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَكُونُوا مَعَ الصَّادِقِينَ» 'O you who have believed, fear Allah and be with those who are true.' (Quran, 9:119) And beware of being a seasonal worshiper—one who worships Allah with true devotion during certain days, only to abandon it on others."

Sheikh حفظه الله says: "I have never drunk alcohol, and thank Allah, I know nothing about it. Nor have I ever smoked cigarettes. Alright? When we were young, we used to do 'infa'at'—because, you know, 'infa'at' means taking small things. Why am I mentioning this? I am not openly declaring a sin; we were just young and not yet under religious accountability. For instance, guests would visit us and smoke, and we would take the leftovers and smoke them. You all did the same, right? Alright, whoever didn't, let him cast the first stone at me! So, we used to do things like that. Why did we do it, brothers? Because when we were young, we believed that manhood meant smoking. Honestly, that’s what we learned. We believed that manhood was about having a mustache, shaving the beard, and even getting tattoos. But as we grew up, we learned that true manhood lies in what? In building and maintaining the houses of Allah. 'In houses which Allah has permitted to be raised and that His name be remembered therein; there glorify Him therein in the mornings and the evenings, men...' (Quran, 24:36-37) We learned that manhood lies in what? In purity. '...Within it are men who love to purify themselves...' (Quran, 9:108) We learned that manhood lies in being truthful with Allah, the Almighty, and in offering one's soul and life for the sake of Allah, the Glorious and Sublime. 'Among the believers are men true to what they promised Allah. Among them is he who has fulfilled his vow, and among them is he who awaits [his chance]...' (Quran, 33:23) Yet, unfortunately, a youth grows up among us according to what his father accustomed him to. If you see a father, older brothers, or the older youth in the neighborhood teaching you that manhood means walking down the street acting like a tough guy, or that it means smoking—and that when you smoke, you take a heavy drag and then fill the air with smoke—what kind of children will we produce? Therefore, brothers—you who are teachers, you who are role models—you are role models. A young child doesn't truly understand. Whatever you do and practice, that becomes their model. If you do good, they will follow you in doing good. And if you do evil, they will follow you in doing evil."

Anas رضي الله عنه narrated: A Bedouin man came to Rasoolullah ﷺ and said: “Ya Rasoolullah ﷺ teach me something good.” So Rasoolullah ﷺ held his hand and said: Say The man counted them on his fingers, then went away thinking and later came back. Rasulullah ﷺ smiled and said: “The poor man started thinking.” The man asked: “ Ya Rasoolullah ﷺ, these words are for Allah… but what is for me?” Rasulullah ﷺ replied: When you say “سبحان الله,” Allah says: “You spoke the truth.” When you say “الحمد لله,” Allah says: “You spoke the truth.” When you say “لا اله الا الله,” Allah says: “You spoke the truth.” When you say “الله اكبر,” Allah says: “You spoke the truth.” And when you say: اللهمَّ ! اغفِرْ لي “O Allah, forgive me,” Allah says: “I have forgiven you.” When you say: اللهمَّ ارْحمني “O Allah, have mercy on me,” Allah says: “I have mercy on you.” When you say: اللهمَّ ارزُقْني “O Allah, provide for me,” Allah says: “I have provided for you.” (السلسلة الصحيحة 3336 ) How beautiful is Allah’s mercy… Even our simple words of dhikr are answered by Allah Himself.

وَلَقَدْ صَدَّقَ عَلَيْهِمْ إِبْلِيسُ ظَنَّهُۥ فَٱتَّبَعُوهُ إِلَّا فَرِيقًۭا مِّنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٢٠ وَمَا كَانَ لَهُۥ عَلَيْهِم مِّن سُلْطَـٰنٍ إِلَّا لِنَعْلَمَ مَن يُؤْمِنُ بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ مِمَّنْ هُوَ مِنْهَا فِى شَكٍّۢ ۗ وَرَبُّكَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ حَفِيظٌۭ ٢١ (سَبَأ) And indeed, Iblees (Shaytan) proved true his assumption about them, so they followed him except a group of true believers (20) And he had no authority over them at all, except that We may make clear who truly believes in the Hereafter and who is in doubt about it. And your Lord is Guardian and Watcher over everything (21) ALLAH ﷻ says that many followers of Shaytan choose misguidance instead of guidance and evil instead of good. Iblees had said after being cursed and removed from Allah’s mercy that he would try his best to misguide the children of Adam and lead most of them away from the straight path except a few. And he succeeded in misleading many people. When Adam and Hawwa were sent down from Jannah because of their mistake, Iblees was also sent down. He became very happy and thought that if he could deceive Adam and Hawwa, then misleading their children would be even easier for him. He planned to keep people busy in false hopes, negligence, and worldly distractions, and trap them through deception and tricks. But Allah, the Most High, said that by His عزت (Might), whenever a person sincerely repents before death reaches him, Allah will immediately accept his repentance. Whenever a servant calls upon Allah, He turns towards him. Whenever he asks Allah for forgiveness, Allah forgives him. Shaytan does not have the power to force people into sin by strength or compulsion. He only deceives, whispers, and tricks people, and many fall into his traps. In this there is a wisdom from ALLAH ﷻ so that true believers and disbelievers become clear, and Allah’s proof is established upon everyone. Those who truly believe in the Hereafter will not follow Shaytan, while those who deny Allah and the Hereafter will fall into his deception. Allah is the Protector and Watcher over everything. The believers seek Allah’s protection, so Shaytan cannot truly harm them. But the disbelievers turn away from Allah, so His protection is removed from them, and they become easy victims of Shaytan’s deception.
