It’s really sad for me to say this but Boom Festival. For me festivals have always been about music, freedom, connection, love and bringing people from all over the world together. When Israelis are made to feel uncomfortable or unwelcome because of where they come from or because they are called Zionists, I feel like the whole point of this culture starts to get lost. Especially when Israeli artists and the Israeli psytrance scene have been such a big part of this culture for so many years. You don’t have to agree with a government or someone’s political beliefs, but festivals should be a place where we can leave that stuff behind and meet each other as people. I want to see Israelis, Palestinians, Arabs, Jews, Muslims, Christians and people from everywhere dancing together and feeling at home. Once a festival starts taking sides and making certain people feel like they shouldn’t come, the magic is lost. Festivals should bring people together, not push them apart.

• Liliesleaf Farm in Rivonia was a major underground ANC/MK base.
• Several Jewish activists were involved in this network, including Arthur Goldreich, Harold Wolpe, Denis Goldberg, Lionel Bernstein, and Joe Slovo.
• MK subsequently operated from neighboring countries, particularly Zambia.
• In 1967, MK fighters joined ZAPU’s military wing, ZIPRA, in armed operations against the Rhodesian government.

• The strategic objective was ultimately to establish routes through Rhodesia and Zambia that could facilitate the armed struggle against apartheid South Africa.
