August 31, 1978, marked the disappearance of Imam Sayyed Musa al-Sadr, who disappeared in Libya along with his two companions while on a visit. His life was dedicated to defending Lebanon, its people and its right to resist. He recognized the danger of the israeli enemy early on, warning: “israel is absolute evil.” He also described israel as “an oppressor, an aggressor, an occupier and a usurper,” calling for its removal. He stood with southern Lebanon, saying: “Lebanon cannot smile while its South is suffering and in pain.” His message of resistance was clear: “Fight israel with your tooth and nail. Fight it no matter how insignificant your weapon is.” Decades later, his call remains the same: defend, resist and never surrender.
