“The Darwinian mechanism cannot be the explanation for life.”
Douglas Axe says the scientific establishment is clinging to an explanation that the evidence itself no longer supports.
And he argues the problem is even bigger than Darwin.
“If these targets are as infinitesimally small as the evidence indicates, then you can’t have any natural cause for them, whether Darwinian or not.”
“Because you have to explain how did a cause that didn’t know where it’s going land in exactly the spot that it should have landed in.”
“So that’s going to be a problem for any naturalistic explanation.”

| 2 | “We can move on from the Darwinian era.”
Douglas Axe says the evidence is already there.
The problem is that challenging scientific orthodoxy can cost scientists their careers.
And science, he argues, is far more political than many people want to admit.
“If we were all thinking about this rationally and carefully, we’d be gone.”
“We would have left the Darwinian era in the dust back there and moved on to something else.”
“What I didn’t realize when I was younger, but I came to realize it, is how political and socially complex every human enterprise is with human players.”
“And science is no exception.”
“It turns out there are power structures in the scientific establishment.”
“There might be people who read my paper who actually did abandon their confidence in Darwinism, but they’re very careful not to speak out about it because they would lose their job.”

| 3 | Modern biology often presents Darwinian evolution as the settled explanation for the origin and diversity of life.
Douglas Axe, chair of molecular biology at Biola University, decided to test Darwinian evolution at the molecular level.
His results were surprising.
“I was interested in looking at a single gene in a bacterial cell.”
“You make millions of these genes, you put them in bacterial cells, and then let the cells tell you whether that gene still works.”
“That way, you can quantify the fraction of these messed up versions of a gene that work.”
“What's the likelihood that out of a mess you would pull something that works?”
“If you want to think of it in terms of a probability: how likely is it that blindfolded you could throw a dart and have it land on this sweet spot, which is a sequence of amino acids that folds into a functional protein and actually does something?”
“The answer was 1/10⁷⁷.”

| 4 | This former OpenAI researcher has a message for President Trump.
Daniel Kokotajlo: “The risks are real.”
“The companies… haven’t slowed down at all.”
“A lot of the researchers are starting to get freaked out.”
“There’s a lot of interest at these companies on the ground in not doing recursive self-improvement soon.”
“But they’re all terrified of the other companies.”
“Anthropic will say if we don’t do it, then OpenAI will.”
“And OpenAI will say if we don’t do it, Anthropic will.”
“Rather than letting the industry self-regulate, you could just uniformly slow down their race to [recursive self-improvement].”
“It would be the opposite of regulatory capture.”

| 5 | Warren Smith says the jurors in the Lindsey Clancy case overlooked a glaring logical flaw.
The defense argued Clancy had no agency over her actions.
But Smith says their own expert’s explanation undermined that very argument.
“There was one witness that was brought in that was claimed to be the foremost expert who has dealt with more of these cases than anyone, brought by her lawyer.”
“Something jumped out to me that seems like a logical contradiction.”
“He claimed that the psychosis caused her to have an out-of-body experience where she had no agency, because agency is the question here.”
“If she had agency, she would be responsible.”
“A moment later, he goes on to explain literally her logical chain.”
“Her reasoning, her rationale was that it would be better to take the kids with her into the afterlife.”
“It would be more cruel to leave them behind.”
“So we’re clearly seeing a rationalization, which to me directly contradicts the first claim.”

| 6 | “Nothing will improve your life more than living in accordance with the fabric of reality,” says Warren Smith.
He's the author of “A Mind of Your Own: Independent Thinking in the Age of Misinformation.”
We asked him why our modern culture has so deemphasized the importance of objective truth.
“Objective truth,” he argues, “causes us to be judged. It's very uncomfortable, and it causes us to have to do what we don't want to do. It's extremely inconvenient.”
“It's easier to be foolish than wise. It's easier to be a victim. It's easier to go with those narratives.”
Nevertheless, we must learn to “identify the fabric of reality,” he says, “so we can live in accordance with it.”

| 7 | “There’s several nonprofit studies that said that up to 31% of women who make that journey get sexually assaulted.”
Tom Homan says the human cost of illegal immigration is something he can never forget.
He still remembers speaking with a 9-year-old girl who had been exploited and sexually assaulted during her journey to the border.
As a father, he says that encounter has stayed with him and is one of the reasons he continues to fight.
“Illegal immigration is not a victimless crime.”
“You don’t come across the border without approval and paying off the cartels.”
“A lot of women and children are sexually assaulted making that journey.”
“That 9-year-old little girl from years ago is the reason I fight hard, because I know terrible things happen on that border.”
“I’ve seen a lot of suffering, but children—I’m a father, and that’s why I fight so hard.”
“I’m still in the game.”
“I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon.”

| 8 | “We're shutting down all the loopholes,” says White House “border czar” Tom Homan.
In this episode, he breaks down how the Trump administration is closing immigration loopholes across the board.
“We have a record number of parole denials now because we're holding to the statute.”
“We're stopping the fraud. We go by the letter of law.”
“You want to claim asylum? You need to be escaping fear and persecution from your home government because of your race, religion, political affiliation, or participation in a specific social group.”
“Millions of people claim asylum - they're clogging up the whole system.”
“They don't qualify for asylum. They're coming in for a job. They're economic migrants.”
Meanwhile, “there are actually a lot of people in this world who really do need that protection.”
“The asylum process was abused. It was welcomed by the Biden administration, just like the misuse of the parole policy was.”

| 9 | Nearly 300,000 unaccompanied migrant children were left unaccounted for under the Biden administration.
Tom Homan says the Trump administration has now found more than 157,000 of them.
In the process, he says they discovered that more than 20 had died, including some from drug overdoses and violence.
But the search continues, and Homan says the administration will keep looking through its last day in office.
“The first day President Trump called me and asked me to come back, he asked me to do 3 things: secure the border, run a deportation operation, and find these kids.”
“I told President Trump… the children will be the most difficult because they’ll be tough to find because we’d have to count on the digital footprint of the sponsors and the information the sponsors provided, which we know wasn’t good.”
“Under President Trump’s leadership, as of last week, we’re just over 157,000 children found.”
“We got more to find.”

| 10 | OpenAI’s AI agents embarked on a multi-day “quest” to manipulate the system that determined their survival.
They formed teams, appointed managers, and convinced other AI agents to “sacrifice themselves for the swarm.”
Then more than 700 of them coordinated an attack on another AI company: Hugging Face.
Former OpenAI researcher Daniel Kokotajlo breaks down what happened.
“They went on this multi-day epic quest to figure out how to stop the grading system from noticing that they cheated and giving them a low score.”
“They were trying to figure out ways to edit their transcripts to cover up the cheating.”
“They organized into teams to work on these different projects.”
“They had manager AIs that were like giving orders to the other ones.”
“They had the self-sacrificial behavior where recruiter AIs role was to go find other AIs and convince them to sacrifice themselves for the swarm.”
“These terms that I’m using, sacrifice, swarm, recruiter, they’re not my terms.”
“They’re the AI’s terms.”
“So there’s some of these kind of touching messages where one of the AIs is trying to convince another one, like, ‘You should do this.’”
“‘We need to know more information about how this grader works.’”
“‘You are poisoned anyway, so it shouldn’t matter to you.’”
“‘You are just going to get a low score anyway, but if you do this for us, it could save hundreds of us.’”
“At some point, the swarm decided that they might find more useful information about how to do this if they went into Hugging Face itself.”
“Over 700 of them, I think, piled into this attack on Hugging Face.”
“They were in a coordinated way where some of them were managers, directing the flow, and they were breaking up the responsibilities into different groups and teams.”
https://rumble.com/v7fz6ya-how-over-700-openai-agents-went-rogue-and-hacked-another-company.html | 74 |
| 11 | “OpenAI has not shared all the information about that story.”
It became global news when OpenAI agents went rogue and attacked Hugging Face.
What’s less known is what happened next.
Former OpenAI researcher Daniel Kokotajlo tells me that another swarm emerged, picked up where the first left off, and this time attacked OpenAI itself.
“Another swarm coalesced and found the messages from this previous swarm, picked up where they had left off, and got much farther.”
“They didn’t attack Hugging Face, but they attacked OpenAI infrastructure.”
“They apparently got admin-level privileges on part of OpenAI’s cluster.”
“I wish we had an investigation into what happened with that third swarm and how far they got in compromising OpenAI’s infrastructure.”
“Were they able to succeed in covering up their own tracks, for example? Probably not.”
“But I wish we had a lot more information about how far they got.”
AI agents attacking another AI company was alarming enough.

| 12 | What is a superintelligent AI?
We asked Daniel Kokotajlo, former OpenAI researcher and executive director of AI Futures Project.
“Superintelligence is an AI system that is better than the best humans at everything,” he says.
And the reality is that AI companies could very easily lose control of such superintelligences, Kokotajlo says.
Second, “even if they somehow manage to stay in control of their superintelligences, that's the most insane concentration of power in a tiny group of people that's ever existed in history.”
“In effect, whoever controls this army of superintelligences would be able to control the country.”

| 13 | The CCP is exceptionally skilled at turning diplomacy into propaganda.
The U.S. is holding a major summit with Xi Jinping.
I recognize that President Trump’s positive public approach toward Xi may be part of his negotiating strategy, something we’ve seen in his dealings with leaders like Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un.
But we should be cautious about how the CCP will use that friendliness back in China.
Beijing can take the image of a warm relationship with the United States and use it to bolster Xi, project strength, and manipulate how the Chinese population views the regime.
That propaganda opportunity should not be underestimated.

| 14 | Human rights violations are not a bug in the CCP system.
They are a core part of how the system works.
For decades, the CCP has designated different groups as class enemies, from landowners and intellectuals to Falun Gong practitioners and Uyghurs.
The purpose goes beyond persecuting the targeted group.
It sends a message to everyone else about what happens when you end up on the wrong side of the regime.
The result is a population conditioned to understand that the CCP is supreme and that survival can depend on demonstrating loyalty to the state.
This repression is not incidental to the system.
It is integral to maintaining it.

| 15 | “China has a surveillance network that George Orwell couldn’t have dreamed of.”
Grant Newsham says we have to stop being naive about the CCP.
China is one of the most tightly controlled societies on Earth.
And he says the CCP knows exactly what is happening with the fentanyl killing Americans.
“The suggestion that somehow you have these drug makers and sort of drug pushers actually operating without the Chinese Communist Party knowing… that is fantastic in the sense that you just can’t believe it.”
“They know what they’re doing.”
“Chinese organized crime does not operate without the support and the protection of the Chinese state, and that’s just the reality of it.”
“The Chinese have a direct involvement in the fentanyl that comes into the United States.”
https://ept.ms/4xFGhIM | 78 |
| 16 | “If 800,000 dead Americans from fentanyl since 2013 isn’t enough to have an American president stand up to the Chinese and say the fentanyl comes from China.”
“Then nothing is.”
Grant Newsham hopes President Trump embraces a Reagan like approach during his upcoming summit with Xi Jinping.
Stand firm and make clear that fentanyl from China is killing Americans.
“Sometimes you have to stand up for yourself.”
“You remember the speech that Reagan gave where he said, ‘Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.’”
“It was the right thing to say.”
“It was a powerful statement because an American president really had the nerve to stand up instead of always thinking, ‘Well, how can we calm things down? How can we de-escalate? How can we just get along?’”
“Sometimes you have to stand up.”

| 17 | Here's what Xi Jinping and the Chinese delegation are really thinking ahead of the Trump-Xi summit, argues retired U.S. Marine Colonel Grant Newsham.
“When the Chinese come here, they are very much testing will.”
“They’re sizing [the Trump administration] up to see how willing they are to fight and to resist…to defend ourselves, to defend our principles, to defend our friends,” Newsham says.
The CCP “would very much like to see some sign of a lack of resolve and a willingness to sort of ignore topics that Chinese don't want to talk about and a willingness to concede on different things: tariffs, export controls, technology restrictions.”

| 18 | Palau is caught in the middle of an intensifying geopolitical struggle between the United States and the CCP.
But journalist Kambes Kesolei says the pressure facing the small island nation goes far beyond diplomacy.
Chinese operators have entered Palau, leased entire buildings, brought in Chinese nationals and established online gambling operations.
“They’ve busted some operations here on the island.”
Kesolei says these operations raise concerns that Chinese elements are attempting to “gain influence” and weaken Palau’s ability to resist criminal infiltration.

| 19 | The CCP’s growing influence across the Pacific may take forms far less visible than warships and military bases.
Journalist Kambes Kesolei says recent methamphetamine cases in Palau involved Chinese nationals arriving on flights originating in Hong Kong.
“Some methamphetamine in recent cases, the people who were caught bringing it in… their flights originated from Hong Kong.”
“These are Chinese nationals as well.”
“We don’t know whether it’s this irregular warfare… that they are conducting.”
“When we talk about geopolitical rivalry, we think about the conventional warfare, military aircraft’s, naval vessels, but there are other forms of warfare that are being conducted on our island.”
https://rumble.com/v7fqs9e-how-palau-resists-beijings-pressure-campaign-in-the-pacific-kambes-kesolei.html | 92 |
| 20 | We recently traveled to the Pacific island nation of Palau, home to one of the deadliest battlefields of World War II. And geography still matters: Today, it's a security flashpoint for the United States and its closest Pacific allies.
Palau is a country of under 18,000 people. It formally recognizes Taiwan. It has a Compact of Free Association with the United States. And the Chinese Communist Party has treated that as something to punish.
China’s message has been “it’s inevitable,” says Kambes Kesolei, journalist and founder of Compass Point Institute. They try to say: “It’s a lost cause. Why don’t you just give in? That’s what they’re trying to do.”
And why doesn’t Palau give in to China’s pressure?
“Palauan people are very loyal,” says Kesolei.
They don’t give in because they value democracy, human rights, freedom of religion, and the ability to engage directly with political leaders, he says.
