🇨🇩 #Congo: More than 50 defendants (including six with citizenship from #Belgium, #UnitedStates, #Canada, and the #UK) appeared in court today, and have been charged with attempting a coup in May. All of the defendants have been charged with offenses that risk the death penalty. On May 19th, armed men rushed into a presidential office in Kinshasa, briefly occupying the office before coup leader Christian Malanga was killed by security forces. The coup was quickly thwarted, with a number of foreign nationals taking part in the plot. (via Reuters)

🇸🇩 #Sudan: Over 150 civilians are feared dead after the RSF carried out a massacre in the Gezira state village of Wad al-Noura. At least 35 of the people killed were children. The RSF has yet to comment on the accusation, but reportedly attacked the area twice yesterday.

🇵🇸 #Palestine - 🇮🇱 #Israel: A mob of Israeli settlers and far-right protesters attacked Palestinian journalist Saif Kwasmi and Israeli journalist Nir Hasson in Jerusalem today. Journalists were covering the Jerusalem Day Flag March at the time of the attack, with Israeli security forces reportedly standing idly as the mob attacked. Israeli forces detained Kwasmi after the attack, preventing him from covering the march.

🇱🇧 #Lebanon: A gunman in Beirut attacked the American embassy today, starting a gunfight that lasted approximately 30 minutes. The gunman was killed during the attack, with one security guard wounded. The attacker’s motives and affiliation are unconfirmed, but photos of the man’s body show what appears to be ISIS insignia on his vest.

🇮🇶 #Iraq - #Kurdistan: The PKK recently carried out an attack against Turkish forces in the KRG. The attack utilized an FPV drone carrying explosives, a relatively recent tactic adopted by the group. (via @war_noir)

🇮🇱 #Israel: The Israeli government has signed a deal with the #UnitedStates to procure a third F-35 fighter jet squadron. The deal, which is worth $3 billion, will equip the IDF with 25 stealth fighters built by US-based defense giant Lockheed Martin. The procurement of these jets will be funded by US military aid to Israel.

🇲🇲 #Myanmar: Junta soldiers killed at least 50 civilians during a massacre carried out last week in Rakhine State’s village of Byian Phyu. Villagers were reportedly rounded up into the center of the village before many of them were shot and killed, with some stabbed by soldiers prior to being executed. The soldiers claimed to be searching for members of the Arakan Army during the massacre. (via The Irrawaddy)

🇱🇧 #Lebanon: The IDF carried out drone strikes in Lebanon today targeting Hezbollah member Hussein Sabra. Sabra was a member of Hezbollah’s unit dedicated to equipment and force improvement, and was hit while traveling in a car near Kauthariyet al-Rez.

🇵🇸 #Palestine - 🇮🇱 #Israel: Drone attacks sent from #Lebanon targeted the Nahariya area today, with one drone impacting after the Iron Dome failed to intercept it. The drone started a large fire, but no casualties were reported.
