Happy SAF Day to all our servicemen and servicewomen. Thank you for keeping Singapore safe!
I want to also pay tribute to our NSFs, past and present. We're clear about the duty they carry: to serve and defend the country. What gets discussed less is the responsibility the country carries in return. In my view, that means fair pay for their effort, and using their time in NS, as far as possible, to prepare them for what comes after.
That's the thread running through the questions I've raised in Parliament this year. During the Budget debate, I asked that second-year NSFs be paid the Local Qualifying Salary of $1,800 a month, in effect a minimum wage floor. In May, I raised fairer pay and support for servicemen. And this month, I've asked that servicemen in low-tempo vocations be allowed to earn a civilian driving license during their NS, with the SAF's own driving test recognised toward it.
Our NSFs give the country their service. That deserves more than a "thank you" once a year. We owe them a genuine responsibility to ensure their time in NS works for them, not against them.

It is 2026 but memories of the past remain. There are still some houses built many decades ago which are in their original condition, with huge nangkas growing... yesterday I also stood outside the gates of my old secondary school, St Joseph's Convent on Hillside Drive, where I spent four carefree years from 1978-1981.

The Workers' Party held its Special Cadre Members' Conference (Special CMC) today, following a requisition by 25 cadre members.
The conference was chaired by Mr Gerald Giam. Party Secretary-General Pritam Singh provided an account to cadre members on the High Court judgment dated 4 December 2025. Various cadre members gave their views and raised questions, which Mr Singh responded to, before a secret vote was taken by cadres to decide whether Mr Singh was to continue in his role as Secretary-General or to step down.
Cadre members voted to retain Mr Pritam Singh as Secretary-General. This decision reflects the considered judgment of the Party's cadres, and the Party’s commitment to democratic principles and due process. A new Central Executive Committee was subsequently elected at the Ordinary Cadre Members' Conference, resolving key leadership questions and establishing a clear, democratic mandate for the ensuing term.
The Party is united behind its leadership and remains fully focused on its work for all Singaporeans, in Parliament and on the ground. We continue the work of building a more balanced political system for Singapore.

Yesterday, #TeamSengkang made our way around #Anchorvale coffeeshops and the Village hawker center, to hand out flowers to mothers (and some mothers-to-be!), in celebration of Mother's Day.
Living with two mothers at home (my own Mom and my wife) reminds me of how much effort and sacrifice often goes on behind the scenes, just to raise a child in this world. And while the task may often feel thankless, although believe you me, it is always deeply appreciated, by children and husbands alike.
Thanks to all volunteers who came out, and helped me out as we made our way around our neck of #SengkangGRC on a warm, sunny morning. And to all the quiet heroes out there: Happy Mother's Day!

A little more than a year ago, I took my first steps into public life during GE2025 — and what a year it has been 🌱
This post is a little belated due to the flurry of preparing for this week's parliamentary sitting but no less heartfelt 🩵 A big thank you to all of you who opened your doors and your hearts in the past year, and who shared precious minutes of your weeknights and weekend mornings to have honest conversations with us🙏🏻 Your stories, concerns and hope find their way into the chamber more than you know🌻 Thank you for trusting us with them, and please keep sharing!
Here are some photos the morning walkabout that Team Tampines (and our friends!) did this past long weekend. It was lovely to catch up with residents while also recounting some shared memories from the campaign trail with our volunteers!
It was a good reminder of how far we have come, and how more there is to do. This why #wecontinue 💪🏻
