-HE TING RU- Aight I don’t think we should be asked to do any artwork anytime soon. In one of our recent walks around #SengkangGRC, Jamus Lim, Louis Chua and I checked out the newest playground in #Buangkok. This playground in our Helm estate now has a floor made from a sustainable and safe #Corkeen surface, which not only lasts longer than the usual rubber surfaces, but has a negative carbon balance. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/BssJpLLZ3XZCGBtS

-PRITAM SINGH- AHTC Outreach ———————- A good morning for breakfast in the Bedok Reservoir-Punggol ward of Aljunied GRC with my colleagues Gerald Giam and AHTC Chairman, Dennis Tan. AHTC has organised such resident touch-points for some years now. These breakfast sessions are a great opportunity for us to listen to our residents on a whole range of issues and subjects over refreshments and some tidbits (potato curry puffs were superb). Look out for more of such sessions across Aljunied-Hougang Town in the months to come! #ahtc #goodneighbours P.S MP Sylvia is away with Paya Lebar residents on a one-day trip to Malaysia while MP Faisal is on Medical Leave. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/4HcfFpMdGPeJGGhM

-JAMUS LIM- This morning, #TeamSengkang went about our usual Hari Raya routine of visiting Masjid Al-Mawaddah in the morning, to greet the faithful for Eid Al-Adha. While many non-Muslims relate to the festival as one associated the the hajj pilgrimage (which it is), it commemorates an event—the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son Ishmael—that is common to all three Abrahamic religions. Happening the day after Father’s Day, I can only imperfectly imagine the heartwrenching strength such an act would have required. But of course, parents all know sacrifice, in some form or another, for their kids. So this is a way for those of us who aren’t Muslims to also empathize with the purpose of this Eid. And for our Muslim friends and residents: Eid Mubarak! https://www.facebook.com/share/p/MGqmrPk4CGo763Ac

Hello Jalan Besar (GRC)! Team WP was at Bendemeer Market & Food Centre on Sunday morning for our weekly Hammer Outreach. The team had a wonderful time meeting residents and joining in an impromptu rendition of “要拼才会赢” (To Win, You Have To Fight) performed by a very talented local busker! #wpsg #makingourvotecount https://www.facebook.com/share/p/MQgXa9Fzg8E9wCSw

𝐋𝐢𝐦 𝐄𝐞 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐠 Today, the Party bids farewell to one of our giants, long-time member, Mr Lim Ee Ping, who passed away this morning at the age of 86 after a battle with cancer. Many of us saw him for the last time in person on 5 May 2024. Some days prior, we were told he had only weeks left to live. His fourth fight with cancer was not going well. He had defeated it three times before. Many Party members went to see him at his home. Uncle Lim was so heartened by this gesture that he resolved to attend the Party's next Hammer Outreach. Like all members, he sold some copies of our Party newsletter, the Hammer. It brought him great satisfaction to know that he continued to play his part in helping the Party's cause, even in his final days. Lim Ee Ping joined the Workers' Party in 1959, when David Marshall was the Secretary-General of the Party. In the aftermath of independence, Lim Ee Ping continued to rally the members and supporters to the cause, even as the prospects for achieving political progress and a democratic society looked bleak and grim. In his later years, he shared that he was most proud of the modest success of the Party, and also left some nuggets of wisdom for us. In his words: "Today, I am satisfied. With the respect I earned from fellow party members, I continue to serve Singapore. In no time, the baton will be passed to the younger generation. The younger generation of members have to understand and protect the interests of the WP. They need to make sacrifices along the way. With sincerity, they will in no time find the opportunity to serve." In the end, this was Lim Ee Ping's greatest legacy and contribution to Singapore - Keeping the flame of democracy alive when times were at their darkest. For the Workers' Party, Lim Ee Ping showed what commitment to the cause of democracy looked like - A lesson very few in Singapore can say they had the privilege of teaching. While he will be sorely missed, he will be remembered by all of us in the Workers' Party with great fondness. He personified the values of resilience and true commitment in the face of adversity. A fighter, right to the end. He leaves behind his wife, children and grandchildren. The Workers’ Party
