After sin entered the world, we became eternally separated from God. Nobody’s work could save or reconcile us with Him. But in loving kindness, our Heavenly Father gave us grace through His Son. Our attention turns to National Day whenever August comes around. The preparations we make and our expressions of patriotism prove that being Singaporean plays an important part in our identity. The first word that comes to mind when we think of trials is probably not joy. Distress, discouragement, defeat—these are more likely descriptors. 😅 Though the words “trials” and “joy” seem contradictory at first glance, James encourages us to take on a godly, growth-minded perspective. We can have joy because we know that trials aren’t the end but are the means by which we grow in perseverance and maturity. 📈 We can take heart because “in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Rom 8:28). Perhaps our idea of discipline has been shaped by our experiences with our parents (or fearsome discipline masters) in our growing up years. 😬 “They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best” (Heb 12:10), using imperfect methods that yielded imperfect outcomes. But God is different—He disciplines us as He 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘𝒔 best. We can trust that His discipline is for our ultimate good and His methods are consistently 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒆. ❤️

𝐁𝐈𝐁𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐋 𝐖𝐈𝐒𝐃𝐎𝐌 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒 | When Your Heart Fears, Know This—God Always Keeps His Promises As parents, we might make promises to our children—that we’ll always love them, always come back for them, and always be there for them.
