White Papers on Dissent Book Presentation by Barbara Cueto

In White Papers on Dissent, Barbara Cueto explores blockchain technology beyond its economic narratives and technical promises, as a social device to rehearse post-capitalist imaginaries. The book introduces Critical Blockchain Art as an artistic practice that build on the legacy of socially engaged art and institutional critique, while opening new spaces for testing alternative modes of governance and rethinking the infrastructures that shape collective life. The book sits alongside her curatorial work: Cueto is the curator of groundstates, the next edition of transmediale festival.
The presentation is followed by a conversation with terra0, moderated by Chris Dake-Outhet.

European Media Art Platform Residencies 2027
EMAP's call for a two-month production residency in 2027 is still open, inviting artists working across digital, media, robotic, and bio art. The programme places a strong emphasis on collaboration and invites duos, collectives, or proposals for collaborative projects developed with partners of choice or with a collaborator local to the host institution.

transmediale is a guest at Arsenal Kino’s Making space (Raumgeben) series, presenting a screening of Muscha's Decoder ✺
Decoder is an early cyberpunk fantasy, where the titular character roams desolate city streets collecting noises to chop up and reassemble in his studio. Convinced that the Muzak in fast-food restaurants keeps diners blankly content, he meets a cult of pirates and their high priest. Together they produce an "anti-tape" that throws the city into chaos.
Followed by a conversation with transmediale RFC 40 curators Barbara Cueto and Antonina Stebur, moderated by Stefanie Schulte Strathaus.

First session of The School of Algorithmic Solidarity with eeefff
Do we think of this as nature?

The first session of the School of Algorithmic Solidarity focuses on the materialities of digital infrastructures. Former server ventilators, once used to cool the servers of a platform-economy company, become the main material of a deprivation-room-like environment. Out-of-service cooling machines can be reprogrammed for our burnt-out, exhausted bodies. Participants are invited to experience and navigate an environment shaped by the physical conditions of digital economies.

The collective exhibition looks at a new reshuffle of resources and the means of production through means of thought itself, of paraphrasing and meaning-making. As part of fragile currents, eeefff presents The School of Algorithmic Solidarity, a series of performative sessions working with the festival’s archive.
Drawing from ergotherapy and sensory-room environments, the sessions invite visitors to test their motor skills, rehearse situations, and experiment with different modes of acting, sensing, and relating.
The sessions will take place in October, November, and December.

fragile currents exhibition artist announcement ⟢
At the centre of fragile currents is the idea of holding tension: between exploitation and resistance, asymmetry and cooperation. Much like an electric current, where a difference in potential generates a flow, fragile currents emerges from differences that remain unresolved.

groundstates describe a moment of lowest energy before a network is activated. It is a state of rest before eruption, in which imagination is at its peak and a sense of possibility gathers in the background.
The first update on the groundstates programme is up – three keynote conversations with speakers Marek Poliks & Roberto Alonso Trillo, Hito Steyerl, Primavera De Fillipi, Ryan Bishop. More to be announced in the following weeks.

The second artwork presented as part of the cooperation with the Transgressive Memory Festival is the collaborative project between Laura Cugusi, machine yearning, and Federico Zurani.
Everything Is Computer is a game essay set in the aftermath of a Thielian apocalypse, where a Superintelligence cult has taken over. The installation presents a continuous video playthrough of the game, with dedicated sessions during which visitors can play themselves 💥
