Rifle? ✅ Drone? ✅ Vape? ✅ Here, a sicario from the Knights Templars cartel can be seen with his daily carry, somewhere in Uruapan, Michoacán. The drone controller is a DJI RC Plus 2, typically used with the heavier duty DJI drones, such as the Matrice series. These are favoured by cartels as bomber drones, for their increased payload and flight times. He is armed with an AK platform rifle (needs to watch the safety) and dressed in full tactical gear.

Rio de Janeiro 🇧🇷: Red Command gang members shoot down rival TCP drone In the Chapadão complex, members of the Red Command (CV 🚩) managed to shoot down a DJI Air 3S drone, reportedly belonging to rival members of the Third Pure Command (TCP). The drone is equipped with an aftermarket payload release system and a homemade delivery device to carry a grenade, which appears to be a plastic cup held by string and tape to a metal ring. The use of drones for both surveillance and direct strikes has sharply increased in Rio de Janeiro in recent weeks.

Michoacán: Fuerzas Especiales Wicho sicarios firing a .50 cal Barrett in broad daylight Here, sicarios from the Fuerzas Especiales Wicho (FEW 🚾), of the Carteles Unidos alliance, can be seen firing a .50 cal Barrett M82 at rivals from CJNG from an up armoured box truck. This is not unusual, however here, they are seen firing in broad daylight, inside the city limits of either Cotija or Los Reyes, where CJNG regularly attempts to infiltrate.

FPV drone operator course Admin was recently in Ukraine for some training, which included a two week Military FPV Drone Operator course from Global Drone Academy. First week was split between theory and flying on simulators in a classroom environment. Second week began flying smaller Cinewhoop drones indoors, followed by a few days in the field, flying 7 inch drones. There were tests on the theory side and simulator at the end of the first week, to make sure students are ready to progress to the second week. Second week ended with a practical test flight, setting up a long range antenna and ground station, planning a route to avoid jammers and striking a target. A big shout out to my instructor R, especially (also O for his help during the second week). GDA accepts English speaking students and civilians/beginners. The course is accredited by both the Ukrainian MoD and ministry of education.

The helmet is high cut, with a cover, and patches of the Mexican National Guard and glow in the dark cat eyes. The ear protection is a pair of knockoff Earmor M32s. One visible trend with cartel sicarios is the increased use of tactical gear. The Cartel del Noreste (CDN) in Tamaulipas was one of the early adopters of full tactical gear for sicarios.

Sinaloa: Enemy drone neutralised by small arms fire Here, a drone, likely belonging to the Chapiza 🍕faction of the Sinaloa cartel, can be seen detonating in the air after being shot by Cabreras/Mayiza sicarios. Unfortunately, the video doesn’t show enough detail to ID the drone or style of explosives being carried. The person recording is also a drone operator himself. He is from the Cabreras in Durango, recently sent to Sinaloa to assist in the war against the Chapiza.

Rio de Janeiro: Red Command 🚩drone attack against rival militiamen Shown here is a video believed to be shot by members of the Red Command, as they target militiamen in Curicica. An improvised explosive device can be seen dropped from a drone, piloted with a DJI RC Plus controller, causing injuries and damage to the vehicle seen. This video is interesting for two reasons, firstly, the explosive is a different type than the usual homemade grenades (which are not very effective). It appears to be a plastic pipe bomb style device, consistent with explosives recovered recently in Curicica from a CV member (slide 3). The second interesting part is the choice of controller, a DJI RC Plus, which is typically used for heavier DJI Matrice series drones, with an increased payload. This follows reports of criminal factions in RJ being taught to operate heavy duty drones by Brazilian veterans of the war in Ukraine.

Sinaloa: Mayiza/Cabreras sicario killed by sicarios from Los Chapitos 🍕 He has a large wound to the abdomen, likely an exit wound, and more gunshot wounds to the face/neck.

Rio de Janeiro 🇧🇷: 31° BPM in Vargem Grande recovered a rifle (featuring yellow tape for IFF purposes) and 5 grenades intended for drone strikes The cut open plastic bottles with string are the most common drone delivery method for grenades in Brazil, allowing the pin to be pulled and lever still intact. A payload release system for smaller DJI drones can be seen. The black bag and multi battery charger are from a DJI Mini 3 Pro Fly More Kit Plus. Interestingly the drone itself and controller don’t seem to have been recovered.
