Personal weapon of a narco with a $3M bounty Slides 1 and 2 show a custom, gold plated AK pattern rifle with a diamond encrusted grip and foregrip. This weapon belongs to Luis Enrique Barragán Chávez (slide 3), aka El Wicho or R5, as can be seen on the grip. R5 is the leader of the Cartel de Los Reyes in Michoacán, and one of the leaders of the Carteles Unidos alliance, which has been designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation (FTO). He is sanctioned by the US Dept. Of State, with a $3 million dollar bounty. The person holding the weapon in slides 1 and 2 is actually his nephew, Antonio Sandoval aka 03 or Tercer Elemento (slide 4), who acts as a commander in the Los Reyes cartel.

Additional picture of the CJNG M134 Minigun previously used in Michoacán and Jalisco. 👆 This appears to be inside the same vehicle seen in another picture I posted last year, based on the interior and position of the weapon. This picture was posted by a member of CJNG’s Grupo Elite, thanking the leader Ricardo Ruiz Velasco aka RR, for the support and confidence in his team. It can be seen with the same EOTech optic.

Sinaloa: Cabreras/H12 sicarios on patrol Shown here are sicarios from the Grupo H12, which is on the side of the Cabreras/Mayiza branch of the Sinaloa cartel. Grupo H12 is primarily active in Zacatecas and Sinaloa, where they are warring with Chapitos factions. They operate under El H12, a commander for the Cabreras Sarabia brothers. Here Grupo H12 sicarios can be seen inside a civilian up armoured vehicle, known as a “monstruo”. It features a rotating turret up top, which is fitted with a .50 cal Browning M2 machine gun. This is a common choice for a turret gun on cartel monstruos. The cameraman can be seen wielding an AK platform rifle with a Magpul Zhukov-S folding stock.

Yesterday, CJNG sicarios attempted a push on the town of Cotija, Michoacán, which was repelled by Carteles Unidos (CU). Slide 1 shows an abandoned up armoured vehicle left behind by CJNG, as observed by sicarios from the Gente de la Venada faction of CU. Slide 2 shows drone footage from CU, where CJNG sicarios can be observed fleeing, as they abandon the same vehicle. Cotija and Los Reyes have seen heavy fighting over the years, as CJNG attempts to advance against CU. In recent months CJNG sicarios have been seen taking pictures and videos in the center of Cotija.

Rio de Janeiro: Drone detectors spotted in the favelas Pictures have recently surfaced showing Chinese drone detectors in the hands of gang members in Rio de Janeiro. The use of drones by these gangs, for both surveillance purposes and direct strikes, has sharply increased over the last few years. As a result, the gangs invested in C-UAS systems, such as backpack based jammers, several of which have been recovered by authorities. And now, drone detectors have been spotted used by gang members. Slide 1, reportedly posted by a member of the Third Pure Command (TCP), shows a Vodasafe HL2 Pro seen next to a custom painted FAL pattern rifle. Slide 2, reportedly posted by a Red Command (CV) member in the Penha complex, shows another Vodasafe HL2 Pro being used to scan for enemy drones. A rifle is also visible. Using the display of both drone detectors, a rough geolocation of these pictures can be made, both consistent with territory held by the respective gangs. Pictures from RioWars

The Fuerzas Especiales Vampiro of the Caballeros Templarios in Michoacán Shown here are sicarios of the Caballeros Templarios cartel, which is not as influential as they once were but still active. These sicarios are under the command of El Vampiro, going by Fuerzas Especiales Vampiro (FEV). Slide 1 shows several sicarios, one notably armed with a CZ 805 Bren. This is an uncommon weapon for cartels, but has been seen before with the Carteles Unidos in Michoacán (which happened to be Mexican SEDENA weapons - old post). The 805 can be seen again in slide 3. FEV sicarios can be seen in slide 2 with another uncommon weapon, a HK G36E. These were used by government forces in the 2000s, which the sale of 4500 G36 rifles was later deemed illegal with HK being fined in the millions. The rifles were linked to atrocities such as the disappearance of 43 students in Iguala, Guerrero in 2014. A number of these rifles also ended up in cartel hands unsurprisingly.

Sinaloa: Mayiza monstruo with a mounted .50 cal Browning M2 Shown here is a monstruo up armoured vehicle belonging to the Mayiza faction of the Sinaloa cartel. It features a rotating turret up top, fitted with a Browning M2 heavy machine gun. These are a common choice for turrets on cartel up armoured vehicles, as are Browning M1919s or Barrett anti materiel rifles. The gunner has a box of ammunition loaded, with more spare rounds seen at his feet. The stock of an AK pattern rifle is also visible.

Mientras tanto la gente del R5 presume que en un bombardeo sobre una posición del cjng, habrían dejado a mercenarios colombianos heridos, los cuales fueron avistados evacuando a los heridos del área. (Posiblemente cerca de cotija)
