Current context * Hydroxyl megamasers occur when hydroxyl (OH) molecules in gas clouds are excited by intense infrared radiation during galaxy collisions. * The discovered megamaser (IRAS 16399-0937) lies about 370 million light years away and appears extremely bright due to cosmic lensing.
