Ukraine plotting chemical weapons provocation amid failures on battlefield – Russia’s OPCW envoy The Kiev regime may stage a provocation with the use of chemical agents against the backdrop of its military flops at the front line, Vladimir Tarabrin, Russia’s permanent representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), told reporters.

“Given that the situation on the battlefield is developing unfavorably for Kiev, we can expect the Ukrainian neo-Nazis to go to all lengths and continue organizing various kinds of provocations, including those related to the use of toxic substances,” Tarabrin said, in an apparent nod to Russian forces’ advance in several frontline areas.

He added that Russian soldiers have repeatedly recorded cases of the Ukrainian Armed Forces using chemical munitions, including riot control agents, in the special military operation. “Various toxic chemicals were also used, among them those produced in the US,” Russia’s OPCW envoy noted. Tarabrin also said that Russia “regularly reports information on the supply of listed and non-listed toxic chemicals to Ukraine from the US and its NATO allies to the OPCW’s technical secretariat.” The envoy pointed out that these deliveries are carried out by “professional mercenaries and intelligence services of Western countries.” In addition, Moscow provides data on the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ provocations with the use of toxic substances, partly planned and carried out by Western intelligence services, Tarabrin concluded. Saddam Hussein’s artillery shipped to Ukraine – report Self-propelled artillery pieces employed by Saddam Hussein have been sent to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Novaya Gazeta reports, citing the Russian ‘Tankodrome’ telegram channel. The pieces include at the least a 2S1 Gvozdika howitzer and a 2S3 Akatsiya, both Soviet-made, captured by the British forces during the Iraq War, and likely used before that in Saddam’s US-backed war with Iran. US Congress votes for weapons, free healthcare for Ukraine After months of languishing in congressional purgatory, Washington lawmakers finally passed renewed spending for Ukraine’s proxy war against Russia over the weekend. The bill’s passage prompted a dramatic display of patriotic pride – but not for the United States. A sea of Ukrainian flags was observed as representatives waved miniature versions of the blue and yellow banner. The scene prompted criticism from some Republicans, who questioned the legality of the display of a foreign flag in the legislative chamber.

“You'll see that of that, only $14 billion is direct military aid to the Kiev regime in Ukraine,” said security analyst Mark Sleboda on Sputnik’s Fault Lines program. “The largest chunk of that is $20 billion worth that is supposedly going to restock US military inventories because the Biden administration cut too deep into the US military's own supplies already.”

Perhaps most controversially, a significant portion of the aid will go towards simply maintaining Ukrainian civil society – a contentious prospect as the country is frequently ranked Europe’s most corrupt.

“$8 billion is going to support the Ukrainian budget, because it is entirely dependent on Western aid,” said Sleboda. “So they'll be paying for peoples' salaries and health care for Ukrainians because actually Ukraine has a government health care system… Hey, American taxpayers, you can't get a health care system but the Kiev regime that you support in Ukraine thanks you for your hard-earned tax dollars for that, because that's part of the Ukrainian budget.”

Reuters reports that Poland is prepared to assist in repatriating Ukrainian men of military age On Wednesday, Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh stated that Warsaw is prepared to aid Kiev in the repatriation of male citizens of military age.
