_*Daily Morning Devotion 🔥*_ *The Last Will Be First, and the First Last* *By Archbishop Dr Charles Agyinasare* _Day 245/365_ _Matthew 20:16 (ESV) says, “So the last will be first, and the first last.”_ Jesus spoke these words at the end of the Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard in Matthew 20:1–16. It is a story that confronts our natural sense of fairness and challenges us to understand the generosity of God. In the parable, some labourers were hired early in the morning, while others were hired much later. At the end of the day, the landowner gave each of them the agreed wage. Those who had worked all day complained when they saw that those who had worked only a short time received the same amount. But the landowner reminded them that he had not treated them unjustly. He had simply chosen to be generous to the others. Beloved, the Kingdom of God does not always operate according to human expectations of position, seniority, or recognition. God is sovereign in His grace. Therefore, we must guard our hearts against comparison, entitlement, and resentment when He chooses to bless someone differently from us. Here are three practical lessons for today’s believer: 1. *Serve with a heart free from comparison* _Colossians 3:23 says, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.”_ Your service must ultimately be unto God. It is easy to look at someone else’s progress and ask, “What about me?” But comparison can rob you of gratitude for what God is doing in your own life. Scripture warns against “comparing themselves among themselves” because it is not wise. Serve faithfully, celebrate others sincerely, and leave the rewards to God. 2. *Trust God’s timing over human promotion* _1 Peter 5:6 says, “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.”_ Promotion in God’s Kingdom does not always follow the order people expect. Someone who arrived later may move ahead of you. Someone who seemed unnoticed may suddenly be elevated. Do not become bitter. God sees your hidden labour, and He knows the proper time and manner in which to reward faithfulness. Your responsibility is to remain humble and obedient. 3. *Embrace grace instead of entitlement* _Ephesians 2:8 says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.”_ The early workers became dissatisfied when they compared their reward with what others received. Yet they had received exactly what had been promised. Entitlement makes you resent another person’s blessing, but grace teaches you to rejoice in God’s generosity. Remember that everything we receive from God begins with His mercy and grace. _Precious one, do not allow another person’s promotion to make you question God’s goodness to you. Whether you have served Him for fifty years or came to Him yesterday, salvation itself is a gift of grace. Serve without comparison, wait without bitterness, and receive God’s goodness without entitlement. When you understand grace, you can celebrate when God is good to someone else without feeling that He has been unfair to you._ *Prayer* _Heavenly Father, help me to serve You without comparison, trust Your timing without bitterness, and live with gratitude for Your grace. Deliver me from jealousy and entitlement. Teach me to rejoice when You bless others and to remain faithful wherever You have placed me. There will be moments when people question your faith, challenge your convictions, or attempt to make you uncomfortable because of what you believe. *Welcome To September 🎊* _*Daily Morning Devotion 🔥*_ *Understand Your Limits Before You Step Out* *By Archbishop Dr Charles Agyinasare* _Day 244/365_ _Luke 14:28 says, “For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?”_ When I got saved, just a few months later I told my pastor that God had called me and that I was going into full-time ministry. He calmly asked me two simple questions: “What message has God given you?” and “Where is He sending you?” I could not answer either question. That moment taught me an important lesson. A genuine sense of calling does not mean you are immediately ready for the assignment. God calls people, but He also prepares them. He sends people, but He first develops their character, capacity, knowledge, and understanding. Beloved, enthusiasm is good, but enthusiasm without wisdom can lead you ahead of your preparation. You must understand your present capacity, recognise your season, and be willing to grow. Knowing your limits does not mean limiting what God can do through you. It means recognising where you are today while allowing Him to prepare you for where He is taking you tomorrow. Here are three things you must do to walk wisely in your calling: 1 *Clarify your assignment before you announce it* _Jeremiah 1:7 says, “But the LORD said unto me… thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.”_ God gave Jeremiah both direction and a message. Do not rush to announce what you have not taken time to understand. Seek God in prayer. Study His Word. Ask questions. Allow your sense of calling to become clearer. Knowing that God has called you is important, but understanding what He is calling you to do is equally necessary. 2 *Submit your passion to wise counsel* _Proverbs 11:14 says, “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.”_ Do not be offended when mature people ask difficult questions about your plans. My pastor’s questions did not deny my calling; they helped expose where I still needed clarity and preparation. God can use spiritual leaders, mentors, and wise counsellors to refine your thinking and help you avoid unnecessary mistakes. 3 *Grow into your calling instead of rushing ahead of it* _Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”_ There is a difference between being called and being prepared. David was anointed king long before he sat on the throne. Preparation is not rejection, and waiting is not necessarily wasted time. Use your present season to learn, serve, develop your gifts, strengthen your character, and increase your capacity. What God is preparing you for may require more of you than you presently possess. _Precious one, understanding your limits is not weakness; it is wisdom. Do not allow excitement to push you into something your character, knowledge, or capacity is not yet ready to sustain. At the same time, never allow your present limitations to become permanent excuses. Know your limits, respect your season, and keep growing until you are ready for what God has called you to do._ *Prayer* _Heavenly Father, grant me wisdom to understand my calling, my season, and my present capacity. Give me humility to receive wise counsel and patience to submit to Your process of preparation. Help me to keep growing until I am ready for every assignment You have ordained for me.
