Ahead of America’s historic 250th Independence Day on Saturday, July 4, President Isaac Herzog visited U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee at the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem to deliver a message of congratulations to President Donald J. Trump and the American people. Upon delivering his letter of congratulations to Ambassador Huckabee, President Herzog said: “I am extremely moved and happy to be here at the American Embassy in Jerusalem, the capital of the State of Israel, at the Embassy which was launched by President Trump in his historic recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital. “I want to congratulate the President, the Congress, the leadership, and the people of the United States of America through you, Mr. Ambassador, on 250 years of Independence. American Independence is one of the greatest moments in history, and it has changed the fate of humanity.” In President Isaac Herzog’s letter to President Donald J. Trump, he wrote: “This landmark Freedom 250 celebration is a moment to honor the incredible triumph of the American spirit. The story of America has inspired humanity the world over. From sea to shining sea, America stands as a beacon of liberty, and as the leader of the free world. “This is also a time to express our deepest appreciation for the unique and unbreakable partnership between the United States of America and Israel. Our two nations draw from the same wellsprings of the Bible, and we share the same fundamental values of freedom, democracy, and human dignity. “I thank you for your steadfast commitment to Israel’s security. The people of Israel will never forget your tireless efforts to bring our beloved hostages home. May you continue to lead the Middle East and the world toward peace and security.” Welcoming President Herzog at the U.S. Embassy, Ambassador Huckabee said: “This is a great time for all Americans to celebrate, but we're not the only ones celebrating America's 250th birthday. Two days ago (Sunday), the IDF and the ISA struck in the southern Gaza Strip and eliminated the terrorist Talal Jaber Mohammad Abd al-Aal, who held a number of positions in the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization. Abd al-Aa commanded a terrorist cell that infiltrated Israeli territory and took part in the Oct 7th Massacre. Throughout the war, Abd al-Aal took part in holding hostages, who were held by the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization in the southern Gaza Strip.

Joint Statement by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz As part of Operation Closing Verse, the IDF has just destroyed the underground terrorist infrastructure of the Hezbollah terrorist organization in the area of the village of Majdal Zoun in southern Lebanon. The tunnel, which was over 200 meters long and more than 25 meters deep, contained hundreds of weapons and several launch silos intended to target the territory of the State of Israel and its citizens. Israel updated the United States and the American representative in Lebanon in advance regarding the destruction of the infrastructure. IDF commanders and fighters will remain in the security zone in southern Lebanon and will continue to destroy terrorist infrastructure, remove threats to northern communities, and safeguard the security of Israel's citizens.

IDF: The IDF eliminated the terrorist from the encounter in which Captain David Hazutt fell overnight Overnight (Sunday), IDF soldiers from the Golani Brigade Combat Team encountered a Hezbollah terrorist after entering a suspicious structure in the area of Deir Siryan in southern Lebanon. As a result of the encounter, Captain David Hazutt fell, and an additional IDF soldier was lightly injured. Following extensive searches conducted by IDF soldiers in the area, the terrorist was located in one of the structures near the point of the encounter and was eliminated by the soldiers. The IDF will continue to operate to remove any threat posed to IDF soldiers and will not allow the Hezbollah terrorist organization to harm Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers.

Heartbreaking News😭 An IDF officer was killed in a clash with a Hezbollah terrorist in southern Lebanon overnight. The slain soldier is named as Cpt. David Hazutt, 21, a platoon commander in the Golani Brigade's 12th Battalion, from Ashkelon. We bow our heads in respect for this hero who was killed defending the Jewish homeland 😢 May his memory forever be a blessing. I’m sending my deepest condolences to his family 💔🙏 According to an IDF probe of the incident, at around 2 a.m., Golani soldiers encountered a Hezbollah terrorist as they entered a structure in the village of Deir Siryan. During the clash, Hazutt was killed and another soldier was lightly hurt. Troops have launched searches for the terrorist and struck Hezbollah sites in the area.
