| 2 | High Variation in Genetic Markers of the Ranglong Tribe in Comparison with Neighbouring Populations of Northeast India:
Distinct genetic profile: Halam (2026) studied 104 Ranglong of Northeast India using ABO, Rh(D), PTC taste sensitivity and colour blindness. Blood group A was highest (47.12%), while 99.04% were Rh-positive.
Strong inter-population variation: Only 57.69% were PTC tasters, significantly lower than neighbouring populations, while 9.38% of males showed colour blindness. The ABO pattern resembled some Kuki-Chin-Mizo groups, indicating both shared ancestry and population-specific differentiation.
Microevolutionary significance: The distinctive variation is attributed particularly to isolation, endogamy, small population size, genetic drift and possible founder effect. Thus, the Ranglong provide a useful contemporary case study for genetic polymorphism, population structure, gene flow and microevolution in Indian tribal populations.
Relavance: 9.6- population variation as genetic marker.

| 8 | 1.Age is socially constructed, not merely chronological: Kalam & Pal (2026), studying 28 couples (56 participants) across West Bengal, and Odisha, show that people acquire social age through marriage, parenthood, kinship position and household authority, sometimes irrespective of years lived.
2.Ageing is gendered and class-mediated: Women tend to undergo earlier social ageing through motherhood, reproductive labour, caregiving and menopause, whereas men's ageing is more strongly associated with declining economic productivity. Manual labour and economic insecurity produce “accelerated social aging” through bodily exhaustion and functional decline.
3.Age is embodied and relational: Grey hair, wrinkles, bodily strength and work capacity become culturally interpreted signs of age; simultaneously, becoming a grandparent changes authority, respect and decision-making power. Thus, ageing emerges through the intersection of body × kinship × gender × class × life-course...

2. Gender, property and power: Witch-hunting is not merely “superstition”; elderly women, widows and economically vulnerable women are disproportionately targeted, sometimes through accusations connected with land/property appropriation, family conflict and patriarchal control.

| 10 | Determinants of Cardiometabolic Risk Factors in India: An Epidemiological and Anthropological Study.
Case Study: Biocultural Determinants of Cardiometabolic Risk — Urban Kalahandi, Odisha:
Karishma Yasmin (2026) studied adults in urban Kalahandi, Odisha, integrating anthropological and epidemiological approaches.
Finding: 24.01% had MetS and 63.14% Pre-MetS, indicating substantial early cardiometabolic vulnerability.
Biocultural interaction: Biological factors—BMI, waist circumference and lipid profile—interacted with gender, occupation, mobility, diet and urban lifestyle in shaping risk.
Anthropological significance: Demonstrates that health and disease are bioculturally produced—biological susceptibility is embedded within gender roles, occupational patterns and everyday practices.

| 11 | 1. Pushkar as a living Sacred Complex: Sharma (2026) applies L. P. Vidyarthi’s Sacred Complex model to Pushkar, showing the integration of sacred geography, sacred performances and sacred specialists— through which pilgrimage centres sustain religious life.
2. Three components operate together: Pushkar Lake, ghats and temples constitute sacred geography; bathing, parikrama, Kartik Purnima and Pushkar Fair constitute performances; and Parashar Brahmins act specialists maintaining ritual continuity.
3. Tradition adapts: Pushkar demonstrates interaction between Redfield’s Great and Little Traditions and Singer’s cultural performances. Rituals now intersect with tourism, markets and livelihoods, making the sacred complex simultaneously a religious system and socio-economic field.
4. Contemporary relevance: Shefali Sharma (2026): Pushkar remains a living sacred complex where religion intersects with commerce, tourism and heritage, but pollution, urbanisation and encroachment make conservation essential | 5 512 |

| 16 | Anthropologists Proposes Folding Australopithecus and Paranthropus into Genus Homo:
Why rethink hominin classification?
Dr. Towle argues that the traditional separation of Homo, Australopithecus and Paranthropus is increasingly inconsistent with fossil and phylogenetic evidence. Australopithecus may be non-monophyletic, while traits once used to define Homo—such as large brains and tool use—are no longer reliable boundaries.
Proposed revision — He proposes expanding genus Homo to include Australopithecus and Paranthropus, extending Homo back roughly 4–5 million years, around the branching point of Australopithecus anamensis. This would better represent the complex, non-linear nature of hominin evolution.
Significance & criticism — The proposal could provide a more stable taxonomy and reduce repeated reclassification as new fossils are discovered. However, critics may argue that merging the genera obscures biologically meaningful differences. | 9 522 |
